A wide draw does look the main obstacle for the resuming Millenium Blade, who has the best exposed form in this field with three metro placings from as many starts as a late two-year-old.

The youngster has been gelded ahead of his second campaign, which could bring the improvement required to capitalise on that early promise.

Jamie Mott takes this fresh engagement, an underrated hoop who rode the second most winners in Victoria last season and remains high on the 2025/26 leaderboard.

The Price & Kent (Jnr) stable is also in good touch this season, and their fresh runners are generally presented well.

Without being knocked about, the two jump-outs suggest that Millenium Blade is ready to go first-up.

On a tricky program for a standout, Sacred Eagle appeals on an each-way basis in the second leg of the quaddie.

While there is 61.5kg to carry, the weight spread is not significant, and no rivals gain a meaningful advantage at the handicaps.

It is a decent class drop off recent assignments, where the gelding has been competitive on the country cups circuit throughout spring.

The gelding was hardly despised in the market last time out via the Dunkeld Cup, and that form holds up well back at this level.

S also saluted in his only try over this track-and-trip, and Sacred Eagle was a strong second-up winner in August before rising in grade.

The trainer and jockey combination of John McArdle and Jamie Mott has always been a respected one, and this season is no exception, with the pair combining for eight winners at a 27.6% strike rate.

They team up again with Viasain, whom Mott has partnered in eight of ten starts, including both victories.

Those two wins have also come first-up, so fresh is clearly the key to the four-year-old who finds a very winnable return event here.

He was tried over further without success in autumn, and keeping him to these shorter trips looks suitable.

Tactically versatile and coming off a Mornington jump-out win last week, Viasain should get every chance on return.
