Resuming at 1500m is a positive for Le Chocolat and the Chris Waller-trained galloper arrives to Thursday's fresh assignment off two nice Sydney trials.

The son of Ocean Park has been runner-up in both prior attempts at 1500m+ and the last of those efforts was a second-place finish at Newcastle before a spell.

Firm Agreement (Group placed in five of his next seven starts) won that October 1 event, while he also has a 1550m placing behind Raf Attack (Group 3 winner that prep).

Brad Widdup-trained horses often improve as a prep wears on and his stats over the last 12 months support that theory (10% first-up vs 13% second-up and 16% third-up).

The Hawkesbury local has applied blinkers to The Grey ahead of this third-up attempt, with the three-year-old a touch flat last start after covering ground fresh.

The last start form through Cassiel should hold up, as that galloper beat Apex (subsequent BM72 metro winner) in town the start prior and The Grey has improvement to come.

Hawkesbury Value Bet - Race 7 No. 2 Centenario

He's contested two decent Randwick heats leading into this 1500m return and Centenario improved in the last of those workouts (good late when under riding).

The ex-Kiwi wasn't far away from landing bets on Australian debut last year, where he split Sonofdec and Rematch, which is a strong enough reference for this.

Centenario didn't progress subsequently, with only two runs completed in both preps for Waterhouse & Bott, but the gear changes suggests that he's settling better.
