There was clearly an opinion of Oakfield Saturn, who saluted over this track-and-trip on debut in March when heavily supported — a comfortable triumph despite doing a fair bit wrong — before placing in three subsequent autumn attempts.
The daughter of American Pharoah couldn’t land a big betting push via her October 18 resumption, but still ran the race-fastest last 400m and 200m when runner-up behind Gunroom, who did take out a $100k Super Maiden in Sydney before his spring return.
Perhaps a slight knock not going up in trip, but she draws well again and looks set to improve second-up. That performance suggested she’s come back in good order and remains on an upward path.
Back to Gosford suits, and Oakfield Saturn looks well placed to go one better on Thursday.

Gosford Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 6 Emballee
This Chris Waller-trained galloper was a third-up maiden winner at Hawkesbury on October 23, where she saluted like a $1.60 favourite should, and while this is harder at BM64 level against seasoned opposition, that was the confidence booster she needed.
The second-up form before the breakthrough stands up, where Emballee was an unlucky third in a Randwick-Kensington event won by Pictor, who was stakes competitive on Thursday, while the runner-up from that Sydney race was Panova, who won her next two attempts at Group 3 level.
The prior form through fourth and fifth home also reads well, while the last-placed Supreme Statement prevailed at his next outing.
She’s trending the right way and looks ready to measure up in stronger grade.

Gosford Value Bet - Race 8 No. 1 Gold Card
A very fast tempo did set it up for a swooper, however, Taree isn't the easiest track to circle and make ground, with Fast Card rattling home from last to bring up win number eight via his October 17 resumption.
The runner-up Super Impressive did put in a stinker yesterday at Grafton, but he's much better than that, and form otherwise has been okay around that Taree race.
An extra 100m and a low draw are both positives on Thursday, while the seven-year-old has been competitive in all three Gosford showings, which includes a win and a second.
Those top two finishes both came in this grade and he gets handy relief at the weights after the 3kg claim from talented apprentice Siena Grima.
