The Gibson Class 3 Handicap Tips (Race 3)

Doomben Favourite - Race 3 No. 3 Okesutora

The son of Tosen Stardom is a dual winner in 2025, including by just under half-a-length over 2221m at Seymour in April.

The gelding has performed well in all three subsequent starts, including when beaten a length into third on a heavy track at Albury via his penultimate start.

Okesutora contested a 2000m Benchmark 58 handicap that day and he returned to winning ways at Rockhampton just over a month ago.

Mark Currie’s representative overcame an awkward start when justifying favouritism in a 2215m Benchmark 65 handicap held on a Soft 5 surface on that occasion.

The drop back in distance is no issue for the five-year-old, who looks ready for this step up to metro-level racing.

Cobi Vittler’s three-kilogram claim is helpful in this field, while he's effective on good and soft going.

Doomben Next Best Bet - Race 4 No. 7 Merchant Lady

The five-year-old was spelled following a last-of-fifteen effort in a 1400m Benchmark 65 handicap at the Sunshine Coast in January.

While the mare jumped at $15 that day, it marked a disappointing effort and she headed into her return to action at Gatton in June without a public trial.

The lack of a trial appeared no issue to the daughter of Merchant Navy, who resumed with a narrow victory in a Benchmark 70 handicap held on a sound surface.

Merchant Lady went on to deliver a solid effort in finishing runner-up in a small field Class 4 handicap at Gold Coast last month.

Annabel & Rob Archibald’s representative stepped back up to 1200m for that event and the extra 150m she tackles here shouldn’t pose any issues.

Merchant Lady gets in off a nice weight and she looks up to saluting under Heavelon Van Der Hoven.

Sky Racing Benchmark 65 Handicap Tips (Race 6)

Doomben Roughie - Race 6 No. 13 Deep Tiara

Kelly Schweida’s representative is lightly-raced for her age, with just five starts completed.

The first of those saw her deliver a decent effort in finishing fourth in a 1200m maiden here in September 2023.

A below par effort at Ipswich followed, with her next race start coming over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast exactly a year later.

That Sunshine Coast effort saw Deep Tiara beaten just under two lengths into second on her first start of last year.

The daughter of Spirit Of Boom was spelled following that effort, with the mare breaking through for her first win when racing second up this prep.

She came home over two lengths clear of her rivals in a 1200m maiden here and this looks a winnable metro assignment.

Doomben Best Bet - Race 8 No. 4 Pharoah’s Prophecy

The gelding showed plenty of ability without winning in 2024, registering top four finishes in each of his four starts.

Pharoah's Prophecy was spelled following a second over 1660m here in December and he placed in two trials ahead of his return to action here in June.

Racing from the front, the gelding came home over three-and-a-half-lengths clear of his rivals. having jumped at short odds for a 1350m maiden held on a Soft 5 track.

The quicker Good 4 going and step up in distance to 1650m proved no issue to Pharoah's Prophecy when completing a double in impressive fashion last month.

The son of American Pharoah raced on the pace prior to saluting by over three lengths in a Class 1 handicap that day.

David Vandyke’s representative has a wide barrier to contend with here, but he remains open to improvement.
