Canterbury Favourite - Race 3 No. 13 Southern Heiress
This daughter of Snitzel is well bred, with her dam being a half-sister to Savabeel, a dual Group 1 winner and now champion stallion, while her grandam (Savannah Success) was a seven-time stakes winner, including two Group 1's.
Southern Heiress defied a late betting drift on debut when recording a stylish breakthrough at Newcastle last month, where the filly was kept out of trouble throughout a 900m dash.
The three-year-old is prepared by Michael Freedman, a trainer who often has a team of smart youngsters and while this metro BM64 is a tougher assignment at start two, Southern Heiress does look progressive.
Schweppes Handicap Tips (Race 4)
Canterbury Value Bet - Race 4 No. 8 Glenbower
He's still very lightly raced for a five-year-old, with Glenbower having completed just four starts to date and after a 12 month absence following a debut fourth, he impressed with a Newcastle maiden victory last year.
The son of Churchill made light work of a field that included Duke Of Bronte, who won three races last winter and second-up on July 26 this year, he was narrowly beaten in a metro BM72 at Randwick.
Glenbower has pulled up lame in his last two appearances, which includes the June 19 resumption when starting fav in a Gosford BM64, but the subsequent trial was encouraging and the drop in trip is no knock.
Casino Prince @ Vinery Stud Handicap Tips (Race 5)
Canterbury Next Best Bet - Race 5 No. 5 Seven's
While he disappointed following a pair of thirds to open his Australian career, Seven's did set a strong clip second-up at Warwick Farm and that performance may have left him flat (he was tipped out after the flop).
The gelding was unbeaten from two starts in France before joining the Neasham & Archibald stable and there was good money for Seven's ahead of his Australian debut over 1600m on January 27.
He was the pick of the chasers in that last fresh attempt, with that race taken out by a handy Puntin (Saturday metro winner this winter) and his two July trials indicate that he's read to go on Wednesday.
Ranvet Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Canterbury Best Bet - Race 6 No. 8 Slinky
This could be a race of two between Slinky and Winton Hills, and while the latter is arguably the more talented of the favoured duo, wet ground first-up looks the query for the Matthew Smith-trained galloper.
Slinky has race fitness on her side, with four runs completed over winter and aside from a somewhat flat third-up performance at Randwick, this five-year-old has been knocking on the door all campaign.
The Autumn Sun mare arrives off a third-place finish at Randwick, where she ran the second-fastest last 600m/400m and 200m of the July 26 card, while J-Mac is aboard for her first midweek attempt of the prep.
