Manhari Maiden Plate Tips (Race 3)
Ballarat Value Bet - Race 3 No. 5 Breeches
The daughter of Brazen Beau failed to make an impact when debuting over 1000m at Mornington in January.
The three-year-old trailed home seventh-of-eight, beaten just over fourteen lengths when racing on a sound surface that day.
It was a similar story when she returned to action over the same distance at Seymour last month, with the filly beating just one rival home in an eight-runner maiden contest.
A change of tactics saw Breeches deliver an improved effort when finishing fourth, having raced from the front over 1106m at Sale just over two weeks ago.
She faded in the closing stages when beaten just over four lengths on that occasion and the drop back in distance is a positive here.
Breeches looks the main speed angle in this field and she is expected to receive an uncontested lead in this event.

Ballarat Roughie - Race 5 No. 8 Brooklyn Baby
Mick Sell’s representative ended her last prep with an eighth-of-nine when contesting a Benchmark 58 handicap at Colac in February.
Brooklyn Baby has been in good form in two starts since returning from a spell, including when fourth over 1009m in a Benchmark 52 handicap at Echuca first-up.
The five-year-old was inconvenienced at the start prior to going down by just under two-and-a-half-lengths on a Soft 5 surface that day.
She attempted to make all the running on that occasion and raced on the speed prior to breaking through for her first win of 2025 at Bendigo last time.
That Bendigo success saw her salute by half-a-length in a Benchmark 0-58 handicap when again racing on a wet track.
While she is making just her second synthetic track start, the mare arrives here in good form and she may prove up to surprising.

Ballarat Best Bet - Race 6 No. 1 Spirited Defence
The four-year-old finished well held when fifth-of-seven at Geelong on debut in January and he delivered an improved effort at Werribee subsequently.
The gelding was beaten just under four lengths when sixth on that occasion, with both of those efforts coming on good ground.
The switch to the synthetic track here has brought about improved form, with Spirited Defence resuming with an impressive victory over 1200m last month.
The form of that contest received a timely boost, with the runner-up that day Ville De Lumiere breaking through for his first win here on Tuesday.
He returned to this venue for a Class 1 track/trip handicap earlier this month, where he finished second as a short-priced favourite.
Andrew Noblet’s gelding has an inside alley here and he stays in the same grade for this third-up assignment.

Ballarat Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 6 Tewkesbury
The five-year-old finished second in a 2600m Benchmark 64 handicap at Ballarat in November.
Tewkesbury was attempting to register his second win that prep, having saluted by just under half-a-length over 2000m at Mildura the previous month.
The gelding was spelled following a decent sixth when crossing the border for a metro Benchmark 0-64 handicap at Morphettville in November.
While unable to score in four starts this time around, the son of Sir Prancealot has delivered a couple of good efforts in defeat at Bendigo.
The most recent placing saw him beaten just under two-and-a-half-lengths in a 2200m Benchmark 58 handicap two starts back.
He failed to shine when the blinkers worn previously were removed at Pakenham subsequently and they return for this contest.
