Ascot Tips November 4

Ascend Trophies Handicap Tips (Race 6)

Ascot Best Bet - Race 6 No. 9 Savage Dancer

Technically, this is a rise in grade second-up, but that Class 1 form from October 22 should hold up through the winner Spicy Thang, who was hard fit and dropping in class there, while Spicy Thang had also been competitive at Saturday metro level three starts back.

Savage Dancer was a notable drifter in betting via that resumption, yet still recorded the fastest last 600m, 400m and 200m of the program. It was a strong return considering 1000m proved too sharp for her fresh.

The four-year-old now steps to 1200m, having recorded a stylish debut triumph over this distance in June before a spell. She’ll strip fitter for this assignment, and William Pike sticks aboard for the ride.

She looks well placed to build on her early promise and can measure up to this grade with natural improvement.

Swan Draught Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Ascot Value Bet - Race 7 No. 5 Strapping Prophet

He made an impression at his second career start when bolting in after an unlucky debut, showing an excellent turn-of-foot. Strapping Prophet then arguably should’ve saluted at Bunbury in July before a spell, with circumstances going against him that day.

The 1200m trip was the query on return at Belmont, with his best form from the first campaign coming over a touch further. He still launched late for third over six furlongs, indicating he’s come back well.

Now much better suited rising to 1400m second-up, he looks a serious each-way threat on Tuesday. It’s a distance that should allow him to find rhythm and use his late strength.

With an odds-on favourite dominating early markets, Strapping Prophet appeals at a fair quote to bounce back.

Tabtouch - Burgess Queen Stakes Tips (Race 8)

Ascot Feature Bet - Race 8 No. 10 Pure Excess

This Daniel Morton-trained filly showed promise through her first campaign and looks to have returned in good order. She isn’t a 1000m horse, but both early efforts over that shorter trip showed talent and maturity for her age.

Pure Excess went to 1200m for her October kick-off, which was a fair third after racing in restricted room at stages. That performance came in a Saturday 60+ benchmark against seasoned older opposition, which is never easy for an early three-year-old filly, especially one who is still clearly learning the caper.

She should take plenty of benefit from that outing and now meets her own age and sex for this Listed assignment. That set-up looks ideal at this stage of her preparation.

It’s an open edition of the Burgess Queen, but she’s an each-way quote and can be right in the finish.

Wittens Irrigation & Design Handicap Tips (Race 9)

Ascot Favourite - Race 9 No. 5 Dominatus

Was hopeful of a better price coming out of maiden company, however, there’s a long tail to this Class 1 field outside of two or three main market threats, and Dominatus looks the most progressive horse in this event.

Also, William Pike staying aboard is likely to carry punters’ hopes, which is often the case late in the day when it comes to a Western Australian card.

We were with this colt each-way at start two, where he finished in the money, and he backed that up with a breakthrough win last time out. It wasn’t the polished performance of a seasoned horse, but the ability is clear.

The 1600m now looks ideal for him, and he continues to improve with every outing. He’s still learning, but the signs are there that he’s ready to go on with it and progress through the grades.
