The son of Snippetson broke through for his first win when racing on a wet track at Pinjarra in June last year.
The gelding came home over three-and-a-half-lengths clear of his nearest rival in a 1200m maiden that day and he went on to place second upped to 1400m at Belmont subsequently.
While the pick failed to shine back down to 1200m at Belmont subsequently he returned to winning ways on his first start last prep.
That effort saw Simon Miller’s representative register a near half-length victory having jumped from barrier nine in a Class 3 handicap contest.
Notably the selection raced on a good 4 track on that occasion with the form of that contest working out particularly well.
The four-year-old disappointed dropped to 1100m at Kalgoorlie subsequently but has trialled well ahead of his return to action and with William Pike up he looks up to resuming with a victory.
Cool Ridge Handicap Tips (Race 5)
Ascot Value Bet - Race 5 No. 5 Masterly
The three-year-old has been in good form in recent times registering wins in two of his last three starts.
The first of those victories saw him coming home nearly a length clear of his rivals when contesting a 1400m event at Belmont early last month.
The selection raced on the pace that day and attempted to make all when losing out by less than a length in finishing fourth over this course and distance a week later.
The gelding employed similar tactics when returning to winning ways with an all the way success by just over half-a-length when returning to Belmont subsequently.
Steven Parnham returns to the saddle here having partnered the son of Universal Ruler to placed efforts in his first two outings this prep.
An inside alley is appositive given expected tactics with the youngster looking value to record his first win at this venue.
Schweppes WATC Derby (Group 3) Tips (Race 6)
Ascot Feature Bet - Race 6 No. 4 Machine Gun Gracie
Justine Erkelens’ filly is the winner of three of her five starts to date with her most recent defeat coming at the hands of Glasgow Lass in the 1800m Listed Ascot 1000 Guineas here last month.
The three-year-old has impressed in winning both subsequent starts by over three lengths with the first of those wins coming in the 2200m Listed Natasha Stakes at this circuit.
The daughter of Maschino raced from the front on that occasion and similar tactics were employed when taking out the Group 3 Drummond Golf – WA Oaks over this track and trip two weeks ago.
The selection remains open to improvement while she isn’t expected to have any issues getting to the front from barrier three.
Jockey Shaun O’Donnell knows the pick well having ridden her in all five previous starts and she is expected to prove hard to beat for an in-form stable.
Belhus Racing Join A Racing Syndicate Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Ascot Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 7 Toropa
The four-year-old started her last prep with four consecutive victories with three of those coming over 1200m at Belmont.
While the filly was unable to win at this venue in her final three outings that prep it’s of note that she placed second twice prior to finishing a decent fifth in Listed company.
The most recent of those second-place finishes saw the pick beaten less than a length when contesting a Benchmark 78+ handicap held over 1200m on a good 4 track in October.
The selection is set to encounter similar underfoot conditions with the drop in grade a positive in this event.
The daughter of Toronado has joined the Simon Miller stable since the previously mentioned Listed race fifth and she comes to hand quickly having won both first-up starts to date.
Toropa boasts an inside barrier in five here and she looks up to registering her third success in four starts over this distance.
