Pointsbet Betting Site Review

One of Australia’s newest online bookmakers, Pointsbet set out to deliver a new wagering experience down under.

How you ask? Through spread betting.

Spread betting is wagering on a certain outcome to take place and getting rewarded more handsomely for exactly how right you are. For example, if you take Essendon with a 12 point head start against Carlton, you’ll get your stake times by every additional point above that line. Conversely, every point below that mark will cost you.

It’s an interesting concept but is it enough to get you over the line at Pointsbet? Take a look at our review below to make an informed decision.

Pointsbet Verdict

Pointsbet started as a boutique company but has eventually grown as a rival to the major bookmakers in Australia. Their spread betting feature sets them apart but they've slowly added regular racing and sports markets which puts them on par with the other bookies.

We can recommend Pointsbet to any prospective punter looking for a new bookmaker.

Pros

  • Spread betting adds a unique aspect to Australian markets
  • Customers can earn rewards points
  • Name a bet feature allows punters to request specific markets that aren't listed

Cons

  • Can be quick to limit customer's accounts

Pointsbet Sign Up Codes

A change in Aussie legislation that kicked in on May 2019 means all online bookmakers including Pointsbet are unable to offer sign up bonuses.

This doesn’t mean Pointsbet are unable to offer certain promotions to existing customers, so don’t be deterred if you’re not getting a welcome bonus.

Pointsbet Betting Tips

While Pointsbet doesn't provide tips and betting selections for all of their Australian events like the other bookies do they let you know which way the punters are leaning with comprehensive betting fluctuations. This means punters can see at the touch of a button which runners are getting favoured by those in the know and which ones are getting jumped off.

Pointsbet Horse Racing & Sport Betting

After only offering spread markets which pertained directly to sports Pointsbet expanded their markets to include all three racing codes and straight sports markets.

This means Pointsbet has a unique aspect to its service as well as providing the markets that punters know and love. It gives them a great edge on the competition.

Pointsbet Odds

Being a new bookmaker on the block means you have to stand out from the pack, and while spread betting does that it wouldn’t make much of an impression if Pointsbet odds weren’t up to scratch.

Thankfully Pointsbet know how important it is to deliver competitive odds on their sport and racing markets which means you’re not missing out on a bigger dividend by wagering with a different company.

Pointsbet Products & Features

Spread betting unique to Pointsbet, but you might be asking, what is it?

Spread betting is popular in America but is a completely new way to wager in Australia.

Spread Betting is a completely different to regular wagering because the punters know exactly how much they stand to win when the bet is placed. With spread betting you could win more than you’re expecting or get slugged if you’re unsuccessful.

The more your selection is correct, the more you will win. The more your selection is wrong, the more you’ll lose. For example, if you back the Melbourne Storm to beat the Brisbane Broncos for $5 a point and they win by 10 points, you would win $50 ($5 x 10pts). Should the Storm lose to the Broncos by 10 points you would lose $50 ($5 x $10)

It adds a new level to the punting landscape in Australia

Pointsbet Mobile Betting

If you’re looking for something special from the Pointsbet app you’re going to be disappointed, as it doesn’t offer the same statistical analysis that other apps provide.

However, Pointsbet mobile betting is a user-friendly experience that is arguably the easiest to use of all the online bookmakers. If it’s a quick and easy punt you are after Pointsbet has provided the exact app you have been after.
