Neds Betting Site Review
In the few years since its inception, Neds has wasted no time entrenching itself in the Australian gambling industry and making its fair share of headlines along the way.
The vision of former Ladbrokes Australia CEO, Dean Shannon, Neds launched during the Melbourne Spring Carnival in November of 2017, providing a new betting option for punters ahead of the Melbourne Cup.
A big investment in advertising and promotions has put the now-iconic Neds brand front and centre, helping the bookmaker make its mark in one of the most competitive marketplaces in the country.
Following the path of other former Australian online bookmakers, Neds was sold to Ladbrokes’ parent company, GVC Holdings (which is now known as Entain), in 2018 for the princely sum of $68 million.

Neds Sign Up Codes
Because of a change in Australian legislation instituted in May of 2019, Neds, like all other online bookmakers in Australia, can no longer offer sign-up bonuses for new customers.
While the sign-up bonus may be off the table, Neds is still known to provide a suite of weekly promotions for its members, covering mid-week and weekend racing, domestic sport like AFL and NRL and major international tournaments and competitions.
The current referral code for Neds is BLACKBOOK and you can use it during the sign up process. For full details on the code, read the full guide.
Neds Welcome Offers
Due to state and federal gambling legislation, Neds.com.au cannot and does not offer welcome bonuses and incentives for new members.
A lack of welcome offers does not mean Neds does not cater to its existing members with a suite of weekly promotions in sport and racing, but the days of using those offerings to attract new business in advertising are over.
Neds Betting Tips
Like some of its competition, Neds identifies the biggest markets of the week in both racing and sport and promotes daily specials around those events. You need to be logged in to see the promos.
Sports punters are very well catered to at Neds with 24 professional sports to bet on, including niche markets like eSports, politics, novelties and other less-popular pursuits like yachting and darts.
When it comes to big domestic and international competitions like AFL, NRL, NFL, NBA, EPL and global tournaments like the FIFA World Cup, Wimbledon and the Olympics, there are a variety of match-up odds and futures markets.
The sports currently listed include:
American Football | Australian Rules | Baseball | Basketball |
---|---|---|---|
Boxing | Cricket | Cycling | Darts |
eSports | Golf | Handball | Ice Hockey |
MMA | Motor Sports | Netball | Novelty |

Neds Horse Racing & Sport Betting
Neds cannot advertise free bets, especially for new customers, but for existing customers provides a wealth of weekly promotions and specials on topical events in racing.
As part of its suite of ongoing specials, Neds offers protest payouts, interim dividends before results are finalised, quaddies in earlier races on the card, as opposed to the traditional final four and best tote or starting price (whichever is higher) on all Australian metro thoroughbred meetings.
If you like betting on racing — whether it is thoroughbreds, greyhounds or harness, Neds is a good place to be.
The bookmaker offers competitive odds and fixed prices on a wide range of meetings in all of the codes and the ToolBox features allow some real betting flexibility and can cater to different punting tactics.
Neds Odds
To really compete in the Australian bookmaker landscape, Neds has to — and does — offer some of the most competitive odds in the industry, particularly in racing.
Neds punters will get the best tote and starting price on every single metropolitan thoroughbred race in Australia, as well as early pay-outs on those bets.
When it comes to sport, Neds will often lead many of the weekly markets in major AFL and NRL games and is an excellent alternative for punters who use multiple bookmakers to ensure they always get the best odds for each bet.
Neds Products & Features
Neds has done a brilliant job uniting some of its best features into what it calls the ToolBox.
These punting ‘tools’ let punters get the most out of the bets with a number of useful products available. To read all about the ToolBox, visit here.
Neds Mobile Betting
The Neds.com.au smartphone and tablet app, available for both Apple and Android users are one of the important strengths of the bookmaker.
The user interface is easy to use and clearly identifies ‘next to go’ markets in both racing and sport, allowing for quick betting when required.
The bookmaker also does a great job of identifying its specials in the ‘promotions’ and ‘what’s new’ sections and the navigation through different sports and racing markets is among the very best we’ve seen from bookmaker apps.

Neds History
It may be a relatively-new player on the scene, but Neds wasted no time making all kinds of headlines in the Australian bookmaker industry.
After overcoming frustrating tech troubles in its opening weeks, Neds was able to win over the public and turn into a big money maker for former Ladbrokes CEO, Dean Shannon — a big player in the industry.
Those headlines reached their peak last year when Shannon sold his new baby to the very company which owns Ladbrokes, Entain.
