BetEasy had been re-born in 2018 after The Stars Group purchased and merged two of the nation's leading gambling brands.
But following the merger of the BetEasy and Sportsbet parent companies 'The Stars Group' and 'Flutter Entertainment', BetEasy will be operating under the Sportsbet brand as of 2020 rather than running a dual-brand strategy.
Following completion of the global merger between Flutter Entertainment and The Stars Group on 5 May 2020, the operations of Sportsbet and BetEasy merged under a single Sportsbet brand, with the BetEasy brand being retired at the end of 2020.
The brainchild of former Sportsbet CEO, Matthew Tripp, BetEasy was launched in 2014 on the eve of the FIFA World Cup and made headlines for its aggressive promotions and big giveaways. Soon after carving itself a niche into the market, Tripp teamed up with Crown Resorts and BetEasy became CrownBet.
