The WTA Doha quarter-final features an exciting match between Elena Rybakina and Victoria Mboko. Rybakina, the current world no. 3 and in stellar form with 22 wins in her last 23 matches, faces teenage sensation Mboko, who is on the brink of breaking into the top 10. Both have had compelling runs, but the prediction leans towards Rybakina thanks to her current dominance, highlighted by recent victories against top-tier players. Expect a high-quality match, likely extending beyond 21.5 games, based on their head-to-head history.

Elena Rybakina vs Victoria Mboko Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

It's a blockbuster quarter-final showdown in Doha as Australian Open champion Elena Rybakina comes up against rising teenage sensation Victoria Mboko on Thursday.

Rybakina has officially announced herself as the form player on tour, winning 22 of her last 23 matches across the last four months, while Mboko has exploded onto the scene and one more win for the talented teenager will see her break into the world's top 10 after being ranked around 300 this time last year. It's shaping as an entertaining last-eight encounter, with both players surviving close three-setters in the previous round, with Rybakina edging out the returning Qinwen Zheng and Mboko saving a match point against Mirra Andreeva before prevailing in a final set tiebreak.

All three previous meetings have been relatively close, so I'm backing Over 21.5 total games as the best bet for this clash. In terms of H2H, you can't got past Rybakina right now - she's beating everyone in her path and almost half of those 22 wins over the last four months have come against top 10 players. She's simply on another level, but Mboko won't make this easy for her.
  • Rybakina has won 22 of her last 23 matches
  • Rybakina has won her last 10 matches vs top 10 players
  • Rybakina has seen Over 21.5 games in three of her last four matches
  • All three previous meetings between the pair have seen Over 21.5 games
  • Mboko has won 11 of her 14 matches this season
  • Mboko is 3-5 vs top 10 players
  • Mboko is 3-1 in tour-level quarter-finals - but the one loss came vs Rybakina

Rybakina vs Mboko Head To Head

Rybakina leads 2-1. Mboko claimed a famous win at home in Montreal, but the Kazakh took the other two meetings in 2025.

Elena Rybakina Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 11-1
  • WTA Doha Record: 10-4
  • Current Ranking: No. 3
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 3

Despite being ranked No. 3, I think it's pretty safe to say Rybakina is the best player in the world right now.

Dating back to the end of last year, Rybakina has won titles in Ningbo, the WTA Finals and the Australian Open. That's 22 wins in 23 matches, with 10 coming against the top 10. She conquered the World No. 1 in Aryna Sabalenka in the Australian Open final and has returned to action in Doha this week with two more victories.

The Kazakh, who made the Doha final in 2024, eased past Xinyu Wang 6-2 6-4 in her opening match before coming back from a set down to topple Qinwen Zheng 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 in 2 hours and 27 minutes.

“Qinwen, she started better than me and I started a bit slower, and maybe played passive in a few moments,” Rybakina said after the match.
“But again, she started really well and then in the second I found a bit of my game and I stepped in. In the third…one break and everything changed.“But I’m happy that in the end it went my way.”

Victoria Mboko Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 11-4
  • WTA Doha Record: 3-0
  • Current Ranking: No. 13
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 13

Never mind star of the future, Mboko is a threat right now.

The 19-year-old continues to grow from strength to strength and is on the cusp of a top 10 breakthrough.

After claiming her maiden WTA 1000 title in Montreal last year, Mboko also picked up the title in Hong Kong before reaching the final in Adelaide to start the season.

Mboko made the fourth round of the Australian Open, going down to Sabalenka, and has reached another quarter-final in Doha this week. The Canadian beat Marie Bouzkova and Vera Zvonareva in straight sets before a thrilling victory over Mirra Andreeva, avenging her defeat in last month's Adelaide final.

The Canadian saved a match point 5-4 down in the deciding set before outclassing her fellow teenager in the tiebreak.

"I feel like I came out with some very clutch shots at the end," said Mboko. "I think we both were pretty tired when it came to the tiebreak. I think I felt like I was lucky enough to have some good shots in the great moments."

Mboko extended her incredible record in deciding sets to 13-1 in her last 14 such matches with the win.

Both players are in great form, but you can't go against Rybakina at the moment - the AO champ is tipped to edge a high-quality quarter-final.
