Coco Gauff vs Marta Kostyuk Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

World No. 3 Coco Gauff has a tough opener at the Qatar Open in Doha as she comes up against Marta Kostyuk in the second round on Tuesday.

After receiving an opening round bye as one of the top seeds, Gauff launches her campaign in Doha against a familiar foe, with the American facing Kostyuk three times in 2024. Three of the previous four meetings between the pair have gone the distance, so with Gauff opening her campaign and Kostyuk already having a match under her belt this week, Over 20.5 total games is the best bet for this clash. Gauff should have enough class to survive this opening assignment, but if past exchanges are anything to go by, it won't be easy.

Head To Head

Gauff leads 3-1, winning all three hardcourt meetings between the pair, with Kostyuk's lone victory coming on the clay of Stuttgart last year.

Coco Gauff Form

Gauff returned to top form towards the end of last season when she captured titles in Beijing at the WTA Finals, while she launched 2025 by leading the USA to United Cup glory, defeating Iga Swiatek along the way.

However, Gauff's Australian Open campaign didn't go as planned, with the American crashing out in the quarter-finals against Paula Badosa in straight sets.

Still just 21 years of age, Gauff will be hoping to avoid a repeat of what happened at this tournament 12 months ago when she suffered an opening round loss to Katerina Siniakova.

Marta Kostyuk Form

Kostyuk had an impressive season in 2024, which helped her rise to a current ranking of No. 21 in the world.

The Ukrainian had some tough draws down under to kick off her 2025 season, going out to the in-form Ashlyn Krueger in the opening round of Adelaide, while after beating Nao Hibino and Julie Niemeier to reach the Australian Open third round, she ran into eventual semi-finalist Badosa.

Kostyuk returned to action in Doha earlier this week and registered a 6-3 6-3 win over Zeynep Sonmez in the opening round, saving all 10 break points she faced.

Verdict

Three of the four previous meetings have gone the distance and surpassed 20.5 total games and this could follow a similar route.

Gauff is playing her first match since the AO and was rusty in an opening round loss in Doha last year, while Kostyuk is always a dangerous opponent who already has a match under her belt in these conditions.

Backing another lengthy affair between these two, with Gauff edging it in the third.
