The World Cup Round of 32 clash between the Netherlands and Morocco promises a top-tier showdown in Monterrey. The match features two in-form teams: the Netherlands are unbeaten in 22 of their last 23 World Cup games and Morocco are on a remarkable 32-match unbeaten run. Both sides boast strong squads and recent success, making this a tightly contested fixture. The consensus is both teams will score, but Netherlands, who have a strong record in penalty shootouts, are tipped to advance. Key players to watch include Cody Gakpo for the Netherlands and Achraf Hakimi for Morocco.

Netherlands vs Morocco World Cup Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

A cracking contest awaits in Monterrey on Monday night as Netherlands and Morocco square off in the Round of 32.

This should be one of the best matches of the Round of 32, with Netherlands unbeaten inside 90 minutes at the World Cup since 2006, while Morocco are unbeaten in their last 32 games in all competitions, securing the AFCON at the start of the year and reaching the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Indeed, the Oranje are one of the most consistent nations in World Cup history and arguably the best country never to win the trophy. Netherlands have advanced from every group stage in their 10 previous appearances, while they are also now unbeaten in 22 of their last 23 World Cup games since the 2010 edition, where they were edged out by Spain in the final after extra-time. It's since taken Argentina to knock Netherlands out on penalties in their two subsequent appearances in 2014 and 2022.

Meanwhile, Morocco have emerged as the premier nation in Africa over the last decade and have established themselves as a top 10-ranked team in the world since making the final four in Qatar.

You can make a case for either side, but I'm going for a value bet with the Netherlands advancing on penalties, while both teams to score is the main play. Cody Gakpo and Achraf Hakimi are the player prop bets, with reasoning outlined below.
  • Netherlands have seen BTTS land in six of their last seven games
  • Morocco have scored in all eight games under manager Mohamed Ouahbi, with just three clean sheets
  • Netherlands scored 10 goals in the group stage
  • Netherlands are unbeaten in 22 of their last 23 World Cup games
  • Netherlands haven't lost inside 90 minutes at the World Cup since a 2006 R16 defeat vs Portugal
  • Cody Gakpo has scored in five of Netherlands' last eight World Cup games
  • Achraf Hakimi has registered 2+ shots in all three group games, including three vs Brazil & five vs Haiti
  • Netherlands have gone to penalties in three of their last five World Cup knockout games

Netherlands vs Morocco Head To Head

The last three meetings have ended in a 2-1 score, with Netherlands prevailing at the 1994 World Cup and in a most-recent 2017 friendly. The Dutch are unbeaten vs African sides at World Cups, winning five and drawing one of the six encounters.

Netherlands Form Analysis

Netherlands have again flown under the radar heading into the World Cup, but they are reminding everyone once more why they're serious contenders to go deep and cannot be taken lightly.

Ronald Koeman's side scored 10 goals in the group stage, demolishing Sweden 5-1 and Tunisia 3-1 following an entertaining 2-2 draw with an impressive Japan side.

Superior goal difference saw Netherlands top the group ahead of Japan, setting up this clash with Morocco and a favourable R16 showdown with Canada, who beat South Africa in the first R32 game.

With the Oranje making at least the quarter-finals in five of their last six World Cup appearances, they are strongly positioned for another deep run here.

Netherlands Team News

Denzel Dumfries and Brian Brobbey have both been declared fit after picking up slight knocks in the win over Tunisia.

Micky van de Ven is slated to return in defence, pushing Nathan Ake back to the bench in what is likely to be the only change.

Brobbey should keep his starting spot after scoring three goals, all inside the opening 20 minutes at this World Cup.

Morocco Form Analysis

Morocco remain a legitimate threat at this World Cup, extending their unbeaten run in all competitions to 32 matches after they were controversially awarded the AFCON trophy over Senegal.

You could argue that Morocco outplayed Brazil in their opening game, but they were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw. The Atlas Lions then edged out Scotland 1-0 after an early goal within 90 seconds before coming from behind to beat Haiti 4-2.

That was Morocco's first comeback win at the World Cup after 11 previous such defeats, while they also enjoyed 69 per cent of possession - their highest ever in this competition.

Goal difference saw Morocco finish second in Group C behind Brazil, propelling them into this marquee showdown with Netherlands.

Morocco Team News

Ismael Saibari has scored in all three of Morocco's games at this World Cup and the Bayern Munich target should once again lead the line.

Noussair Mazraoui, Issa Diop, Ayyoub Bouaddi and Azzedine Ounahi were all rested on the bench in the win over Haiti and should come back into the starting side here.

Captain Achraf Hakimi and Real Madrid's Brahim Diaz will also be key for the African champions.
