After a stunning campaign, Auckland FC finished at the top of the betting and ladder, and they were the favourites to secure the trophy.

However, the Kiwi club were left stunned by Melbourne Victory as the latter stormed into a 2-1 lead on the night as they secured a brilliant 2-1 aggregate win. This once again put on full show that winning the regular season means little when the knockout matches start kicking off.

Melbourne City are seen as the side to back at $1.73, although they are barely ahead of Victory, who are $2.00.

For City, the semi-finals proved a fairly comfortable affair. They hammered Western United 3-0 on the road before securing a battling 1-1 draw at home. Their 4-1 aggregate win saw City impress at both ends of the pitch.

Now, just a single game stands between the two sides and winning the Grand Final trophy. The entire A-League season has been building towards this match, with the two Melbourne clubs having the honour of walking out onto the pitch this weekend.

Western United and Auckland FC will feel hugely disappointed to have fallen at the final hurdle before the Grand Final. Auckland FC will feel particularly frustrated after finishing at the top of the ladder and proving to be the best side in the league phase. Despite all the promise following their season, they were left heartbroken in front of their own fans.

Which side do you think will win the A-League grand final? Which of the two Melbourne clubs will end the season with the biggest trophy in the Australian game?
