Loera continued Overreach's remarkable broodmare record by clinching a victory at Canterbury on Wednesday. Bred by Corumbene Stud, the filly, sired by 2016 Golden Slipper winner Capitalist, showcases a unique pedigree as a descendant of two Slipper champions. Debuting impressively, Loera solidified her win under jockey Tim Clark while overcoming tough competition. Overreach's offspring have all been winners, with Loera becoming the fifth successful runner. As part of a distinguished lineage, she follows in the footsteps of other successful progeny, maintaining the family's winning legacy.

Loera added to an impressive broodmare record when breaking through at Canterbury on Wednesday, becoming the latest winner out of Golden Slipper heroine Overreach.

Sent out as the second market elect after an encouraging debut second at Rosehill on April 6, the three-year-old settled outside the leader under Tim Clark before proving too strong in the straight.

The unlucky favourite Graffiti Tycoon was his own worst enemy after a slow getaway, but still caught the eye late.
Trained by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott, Loera is out of Overreach, who delivered Waterhouse her fifth Golden Slipper in 2013, part of a record eight wins in the race.

Bred and owned by Corumbene Stud, the filly is by Capitalist, winner of the 2016 Golden Slipper, giving her a notable pedigree cross as the progeny of two Slipper winners.

She is the first horse with two Golden Slipper-winning parents to race since Lightz, who retired in 2019, a three-time winner by Sepoy — the Australian Champion Two-Year-Old of 2010/11 — out of 2003 Golden Slipper winner Polar Success.

Overreach, who claimed the 2013 edition, has now had five runners to race and all five are winners, while her two-year-old Piaffe is yet to debut after two trials in February and March.

Lofty Strike headlines her offspring as a dual Group winner, while Talbragar and Excess have combined for 10 wins.

Ninette has also been successful, with Loera continuing the mare’s consistent record at stud.
