Tamworth Next Best Bet - Race 5 No. 2 Point Out

He's still unproven at the distance, however, there have been excuses in recent performances, which includes a last start attempt when fav in a 50k Class 2 on Coffs Harbour Cup Day.

With Point Out held-up in the home straight, that August 1 outing was inconclusive and he was well backed in his three prior attempts, with the July showings both in stronger company that what he faces here.

Point Out covered ground two starts back when finishing fourth-of-eleven via a BM66 on South Grafton Cup Day and his sole placing since a first-up victory came over this track/trip on July 4.

A half-sister to Converge (dual Group 1 winner), Freedom To Roam will hold value as a broodmare and $260,000 yearling purchased was on sold for $27,500 at the 2025 Gold Coast National Broodmare Sale.

Now under the care of Tamworth trainer Holly Williams (ex-Tony Gollan), the four-year-old opened her account for the new yard with a victory at a non-tab program before contesting a BM58 here on August 7.

There was merit to that last effort, where Freedom To Roam drifted back early before making inroads in a slowly run affair (race-fastest last 800m/600m and 400m) and getting to 1400m should suit now.

Tamworth Best Bet - Race 8 No. 2 Cumnock

His recent form doesn't read well, with a tenth-of-fourteen and a eleventh-of-thirteen recorded in a pair of Rosehill Highway attempts, but Friday's assignment is far more suitable for Cumnock.

Not only does the drop in grade favour the six-year-old, but coming back in trip to 1000m is another positive and he reunites with gun hoop Aaron Bullock, who was aboard via his last win via a similar event in May.

There were excuses after that Dubbo triumph, with Cumnock checked at a key stage when attempting a double via a BM82 and while 1200m-1400m stretched him, there was handy form lines over his prior two preps.
