Sha Tin Tips February 19

The Year Of The Horse Cup Tips (Race 6)

Sha Tin Best Bet - Race 6 No. 11 Top Dragon

Top Dragon returns to more suitable company and looks well placed to capitalise.

The Chris So-trained four-year-old competed in open grade last start when contesting the Hong Kong Classic Mile and was far from disgraced in finishing fifth over 1600m.

After beginning slowly, he worked forward to settle midfield along the rail but endured a luckless passage in the straight, repeatedly denied clear running and beaten just over three lengths.

Back in Class 2 company, he draws ideally in gate one and should secure a far more economical run with Maxime Guyon retaining the mount.

With only 53.5kg to carry, a smoother transit this time would see him right in the finish.

Yue Yee Handicap Tips (Race 8)

Sha Tin Roughie - Race 8 No. 5 Together We Value

Together We Value can build on an encouraging Hong Kong debut.

Resuming from a lengthy break, the Dennis Yip-trained gelding performed strongly when runner-up in a Class 3 over the straight 1000m course.

Settled midfield, he lengthened nicely once balanced and was only narrowly denied late, finishing within half a length of the winner.

The step up to 1200m looks suitable, and from gate ten Dylan Browne McMonagle should be able to slot in with cover.

With race fitness on his side and proven second-up credentials, he appeals as an attractive each-way play.

Red Packet Handicap Tips (Race 9)

Sha Tin Value Bet - Race 9 No. 4 Prestige Good

Prestige Good continues to hold his form this preparation and now drops in class.

The Sacred Falls gelding was desperately unlucky not to win last start when narrowly beaten in a Class 2 over 2000m.

He controlled proceedings on the speed and fought strongly to the line, only to be edged out in the final stride.

Returning to Class 3 level, he maps to settle prominently again from barrier seven with Richard Kingscote maintaining the partnership.

With a softer assignment here, he shapes as a key winning chance.

Kut Cheong Handicap Tips (Race 11)

Sha Tin Next Best Bet - Race 11 No. 4 Aurio

Aurio has returned in excellent order this campaign and looks capable of taking another step forward.

The Manfred Man-trained gelding has posted three consecutive top-two finishes, the latest a strong runner-up effort in Class 3 company over 1200m.

Despite racing wide from a tricky draw, he closed hard and was beaten only half a length after covering extra ground.

Barrier two presents a far more favourable scenario and Zac Purton takes over the reins.

Rising to 1400m should suit at this stage of his preparation and he profiles as a major threat in the finale.
