Geraldton Best Bet - Race 1 No. 12 Just Petty Cash

Just Petty Cash finds a very winnable race to breakthrough in on Thursday.

The three-year-old was specked in betting on debut at Northam in October, where she was a touch green when finishing fourth of eleven.

While she had won a trial leading into that first-up attempt, her latest piece of work was more encouraging when third in a Belmont heat on February 6.

She was held together late in that trial and worked through the line nicely behind New Target, who bolted in at Belmont yesterday.

Just Petty Cash has the tactical speed to use a low draw under Laqdar Ramoly, who has built a rapport with the filly, and there is very little depth among her rivals.

Geraldton Favourite - Race 5 No. 4 Tycoon Demon

A lightly raced seven-year-old, Tycoon Demon has been knocking on the door for most of this campaign.

Dropping back in distance appears suitable after he covered ground over 1400m on February 5 and understandably tired late off a tough run.

His prior showings were consistent, with placings in three of five starts this season, including back-to-back top-three finishes in January.

The fifth-place finish at the end of 2025 was luckless when held in restricted room late in a race that has produced three subsequent winners.

Recent references around the in-form Scurgeofthewest also read well for this assignment.

Geraldton Next Best Bet - Race 6 No. 4 Let’s Sea

It has been a good season to date for local trainer Tony Scally, who is striking at 26% for 2025/26.

The strong run continued on the February 5 Geraldton program when the stable prepared a double.

Let’s Sea is having his fourth start for the yard and drops sharply back in grade to a 58+ after placing in 70+ company on February 5.

That effort was only even, but the placement was not ideal when dropping quickly in distance from 1900m back to 1400m.

In the January 23 outing over the longer trip he was badly held up and went to the line untested, and a mile could prove the sweet spot at this stage of the campaign, a distance he has saluted over previously.
