Will Clarken & Niki O’Shea’s filly has been in great form this season finishing in the first three in all bar one of her five starts.
The exception came when jumping from a double figure barrier when finishing down the field in a Benchmark 70 handicap in Melbourne in November.
The filly has left that form behind her since recording wins in two of her three subsequent starts including by three-and-a-half-lengths over 1000m here at the start of this month.
We were with the pick on that occasion with the filly shaping as if the step up in grade she gets here will prove no issue having impressed on that occasion.
Prior to that the four-year-old had registered an odds-on victory when contesting an 1100m Class 2 handicap at Murray Bridge with both of those wins coming on a sound surface.
The daughter of Star Turn boasts a good alley four from the rail here and she looks up to maintaining her unbeaten record under Rochelle Milnes.
Dominant Handicap Tips (Race 4)
Morphettville Value Bet - Race 4 No. 2 Bullet Wing
The six-year-old made his first start of the season when finishing last of nine in a 1000m Benchmark 68 handicap at this venue in December.
The gelding can be forgiven that heavy defeat when beaten over six lengths that day having returned lame racing over an inadequate distance.
The selection demonstrated improvement when narrowly beaten into second stepped up to 1400m at Penola subsequently.
A change of tactics saw Aaron Bain & Ned Taylor’s representative race closer to the speed when contesting a Benchmark 66 handicap on that occasion.
The pick boasts a good barrier six from the rail in this event while he shaped as if the step up in distance he gets here would suit at Penola.
Jockey Taylor Johnstone boasts a near 22% strike-rate (10/46) at this venue and taking two-kilogram’s off the gelding’s back her mount looks value to register a win.
Croser Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Morphettville Next Best Bet - Race 6 No. 7 Hateech
The veteran mare has been in good form in the last month registering two wins and two second place finishes from four starts.
The first of those wins saw her deliver a victory in a 1400m Restricted 56 handicap on a good 4 track at Murray Bridge.
The eight-year-old went on to complete a double when saluting by two lengths stepped up to 1600m for a similar contest at Strathalbyn two days later.
The selection raced behind the speed at Strathalbyn and demonstrated her tactical versatility when racing from mid-division prior to placing second over this track and trip at the start of this month.
The mare had Whatsanamegeorge ahead of her here last time out she looks capable of reversing that form jumping from next to the rail.
Rochelle Milnes, who currently heads the state Jockeys Premiership rode at both Murray Bridge and here last time and she can steer Claudette Rose’s mare to victory.
Grand Syndicates Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Morphettville Roughie - Race 9 No. 9 Texan Windstorm
John MacMillan’s gelding is a previous course and distance winner having taken out a Benchmark 66 handicap held on a good 4 track here in March last year.
While the seven-year-old has been unable to win since then he has placed in all three starts this prep including at Murray Bridge on his penultimate start.
The pick jumped at $17 when beaten just under one-and-a-half-lengths into third when competing in a 1400m Benchmark 66 handicap that day.
The son of No Nay Never went on to deliver a third-place finish when beaten a length in a 1200m Benchmark 70 handicap on the main track here subsequently.
Both of those efforts came on a sound surface with the gelding racing from the front having jumped from barrier seven.
An inside alley is a positive here and stepping up in distance the selection may prove capable of upsetting some better fancied rivals.
