Coffs Harbour Best Bet - Race 2 No. 6 McNair
With a Provincial third on debut last October albeit well held there, this gelding was well beaten in two subsequent efforts in November and was tipped out, given plenty of time to mature ahead of his second racing preparation.
Defeating Syzygy Stars in a Wyong trial on May 17, a Provincial winner at Wyong on Thursday, it was evident that McNair had come on in leaps and bounds this campaign with the three-year-old well supported for his return at Port Macquarie.
Although he couldn't land those bets, it was hard not to be impressed with the chasing effort as the eventual runner-up and now much more suited by the extra furlong of Friday's assignment, he also draws much kinder in barrier five.

Coffs Harbour Next Best Bet - Race 3 No. 4 Hardedge
A $260,000 yearling purchase back in 2018, this well-bred galloper was then sold for just $6,000 last year and off his first two runs this campaign, he's not far off a breakthrough victory with the step up to 1400m suiting now..
A half-brother to four Stakes winners including Group One winner Calveen, Hardedge has had all of his runs spaced out to date, so I'm not all that concerned with the last outing being on May 21 where he finished second over the 1215m at Coffs Harbour.
After suffering some interference on that occasion along with racing a little greenly, the winkers now go on and against Blandoch, a rival with some handy Victorian form lines, he draws to do less work than the favourite who may just be a run short still.

Coffs Harbour Roughie - Race 5 No. 8 Yarrinup Flyer
Prepared by local trainer Jim Jarvis is this five-year-old mare that can be hit or miss, hence the long price, but all of her recent failures have been on Heavy tracks and she does seem to handle a Soft 5/6 which she's likely to get here.
Three of her last four starts have been on Heavy 9 and 10 surfaces, where although she has travelled into each contest quite well, Yarrinup Flyer simply just doesn't let down on a very testing track.
Away from the heavy decks, her form has otherwise been okay with a one length defeat in a higher grade two starts back and on February 7, was three-wide the trip when chasing a good speed throughout, but she still managed to win.

Coffs Harbour Value Bet - Race 8 No. 3 Inwithachance
As the market suggests, it wouldn't be a shock if the Michael Costa-trained Defactor just proves too classy for this lot, but the odds-on favourite is dropping from 1200m to 1000m second-up and has drawn out, so there's a few obvious queries there.
Defactor is also yet to win under 1200m whereas Inwithachance is much more of a short course specialist, and is stepping up to what is his preferred trip of 1000m now, following a pair of 900m tilts at Provincial level.
Finishing third in the first of those runs on May 8, the six-year-old was never on the track via his most recent attempt which was a race set up for the swoopers and now back to a Country 58, he should be finding this much easier, especially from the good draw.
