Victoria Mboko vs Dayana Yastremska Tips, Prediction & Live Stream - Both players aim to snap losing streaks in Ningbo
Teenage tennis prodigy Victoria Mboko faces Dayana Yastremska in the first round of the Ningbo Open. Both players aim to end their losing streaks; Mboko hasn't won a set since her impressive Canada Open title run, hindered by a wrist injury. Yastremska, also struggling for form, has battled injuries and withdrawals. As they enter this unpredictable match, Yastremska is considered the underdog with a history of success in the region. Betting tips favor a match with less than 21.5 total games, considering potential retirements.

Both players head into this showdown on the back of concerning losing runs. Mboko hasn't won a single set since her extraordinary run to the Canada Open title (where she also picked up a wrist injury), while Yastremsksa hasn't tasted victory since Cincinnati, retiring or withdrawing from two of her last four matches. It's a good opportunity for one of these players to restore some confidence and perhaps put together a deep run at the penultimate WTA 500 tournament of the season.
But who takes it? Hard to say - both are in a very unpredictable place right now. I'm tipping Under 21.5 total games as the best bet. This covers a one-sided victory for either player, while there's also a chance one could retire with their respective niggles. In terms of a H2H, I'll go with Yastremska as the underdog - she's had success in this part of the world before, while Mboko is clearly struggling with the newfound pressure and expectation that comes with such a big breakthrough.
Head To Head
This will be the first career meeting between the pair.
Victoria Mboko Form
Mboko has put together one of the most incredible breakout seasons of recent memory, registering a 53-12 win-loss record at all levels and rising from outside the world's top 350 to inside the top 30.
The 19-year-old began the year by collecting various ITF titles at a canter before earning her first tour-level victory in March. The Canadian continued her progress as she made her first Grand Slam appearances, qualifying for both Roland Garros (third round) and Wimbledon (second round).
However, the best was yet to come. Mboko lit up her home tournament in Toronto, beating four Grand Slam champions on her way to the WTA 1000 title, including Naomi Osaka in the final.
Mboko did injure her wrist during that title triumph and she's lost her last three matches coming into her Ningbo debut, going down in straight sets to Barbora Krejickova at the US Open, Anastasia Potapova at Beijing and Ekaterina Alexandrova in Wuhan last week.
Dayana Yastremska Form
Yastremska heads into this contest with a solid 31-20 record on the season and at No. 30 in the world, which is nine places below her career-high.
It's the first time Yastremska has reached three semi-finals in a single season at tour-level - she finished runner-up at both Linz and Nottingham, along with reaching the final four in Hamburg.
But, after a solid run to the R16 in Montreal, Yastremska has struggled. The Ukrainian was forced to withdraw from her second round Cincinnati match and went down in the first round of the US Open and Beijing. Last week, Yastremska was forced to retire in the third set of her opener in Wuhan against Laura Siegemund.
The 25-year-old won her maiden WTA title in Hong Kong in 2018 and was a Wuhan quarter-finalist in 2019, so Yastremska will be hoping to draw on those memories to find some resurgent form this week.
