Sakkari dropped out of the top 50 earlier this year, but could find herself back inside the top 30 depending on how she finishes the week in Singapore.

The Greek has now won nine of her last 13 matches post-Wimbledon and this looks like a good spot for Sakkari to extend her winning momentum.

Gibson has put together a nice breakout season, but most of her good work came across two tournaments at Indian Wells and Miami in March, where she picked up half of her 22 wins for the year.

The 22-year-old is yet to go beyond the quarter-final stage at tour-level and has lost eight of her last 10 matches against top 50 opponents.

That shows there's still lots of work to be done consistency-wise.

I think Gibson can push this Over 21.5 total games - her best tennis comes and goes, but when she's on, the Aussie can do damage. But Sakkari is the more solid player overall and back in some decent form, so the more experienced player is tipped to prevail in three.

Sakkari remains some way short of the heights she reached in 2022, when the Greek climbed to a career-high No. 3 in the world following deep runs at Roland Garros and the US Open.

Sakkari hasn't progressed beyond the fourth round of a Grand Slam since, but there have been encouraging signs in 2026. After dropping outside the top 50 earlier in the year, she has steadily rebuilt her ranking and is now closing in on a return to the top 30.

The last couple of months have been particularly promising, with Sakkari compiling an 9-4 record that included a run to the Athens final and the third round at Wimbledon. Coco Gauff and Iga Swiatek were responsible for ending her campaigns in Toronto and Cincinnati respectively, although Sakkari would have been disappointed to surrender a lead in a 1-6, 7-6(4), 6-2 second-round defeat to Yuliia Starodubtseva at the US Open.

Sakkari returned to winning ways on her Singapore Open debut, recovering from an early break before taking control against Linda Fruhvirtova. The Greek eventually cruised to a 6-4, 6-1 victory before backing it up with an equally dominant 7-5 6-1 victory over Nao Hibino in the second round, winning eight of the last nine games against the Japanese qualifier.

As mentioned, it's been a solid breakout season for Gibson, with her highlights coming back in March when she made the Indian Wells quarter-finals as a qualifier before backing it up with a run to the R16 in Miami.

The Aussie defeated five top 20 players during that period, including wins over Iva Jovic, Naomi Osaka, Jasmine Paolini, Ekaterina Alexandrova and Clara Tauson.

Those scalps show Gibson has what it takes to beat the best players in the world, but she does need to improve her consistency.

Gibson has only posted 11 other wins for the year, but two have come this week at the Singapore Open, where she moved past wildcard Fiona Ferro 6-3 6-3 in the first round before a 7-6 7-6 victory over Slovak lucky loser Viktoria Morvayova, recovering from a 1-3 deficit in the second set.
