Alexandrova has been on fire, bringing an eight-match winning streak into this semi-final showdown, but I'm keen to fade her as the favourite here. Anisimova is arguably the far more talented of the pair and when she gets a roll on, the American is very difficult to stop. Anisimova has already made a WTA 1000 final in Toronto last year and has more experience in big matches like these - I think she offers the value as the underdog in Doha.

Locked at 1-1. Anisimova prevailed in straight sets when they played in Doha back in 2020, while Alexandrova returned serve with a straight sets victory in Madrid 2022.

Alexandrova has been playing career-best tennis after a disappointing Australian swing, where she was only able to win one of her four matches.

The Russian turned her attention to indoor tennis in Linz in her next tournament, defeating Karolina Muchova and Dayana Yastremska to secure the title.

Continuing her momentum in Doha this week, Alexandrova has defeated two Grand Slam champions in Emma Raducanu and World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, along with victories against Elise Mertens and Jessica Pegula in the quarter-finals, finishing strongly in a 4-6 6-1 6-1 triumph.

Amanda Anisimova Form

Anisimova put together an okay, but unspectacular Australian swing, reaching the Hobart quarter-finals and second round of the AO.

However, the American has recaptured her best tennis upon her return to action in Doha this week, defeating Victoria Azarenka, Paula Badosa and Leylah Fernandez in straight sets before edging out Marta Kostyuk in three in the quarter-finals.

It will be Anisimova's second WTA 1000 semi-final in the space of six months after she also beat Sabalenka (and Emma Navarro) to make the Toronto final last year.

Alexandrova's run has to end at some point and Anisimova is in the type of form to do it, while she also has far more experience in these big occasions. Backing the American to edge it.
