Tauson has put together a fantastic, if not slightly up-and-down season and she will be confident of reaching the semi-finals in Seoul as she comes up against Joint, who is one of the youngest players in the top 50 but has struggled against the game's elite so far in her short career.

Indeed, Joint has lost her last four matches against top 20 opponents - and all four have come in straight sets. The 19-year-old is lacking that one big weapon to do damage against the very best in the world at this stage. Tauson, the World No. 12, has immense firepower and was a straight sets winner over a consistent and solid player in Eva Lys in her Seoul opener. Another performance like that should see her move past Joint and into the final four.

Tauson comes into this contest with a 34-18 record on the season, rising to a career-high ranking of No. 12 and on the brink of breaking into the top 10 for the first time during this Asian swing.

The Dane started the year with a bang by winning the Auckland title, while she was also a runner-up at the WTA 1000 event in Dubai.

The wins dried up a bit after that, but following a R16 finish at Wimbledon, Tauson surged back to her best form at the Canada Open, beating the likes of Iga Swiatek and Madison Keys to reach the semi-finals.

However, Tauson couldn't sustain that momentum over the summer and she was knocked out in the first round of the US Open by rising star Alexandra Eala. The 22-year-old had a bye in her Seoul opener and got her campaign up and running with a 6-2 7-6 victory over Eva Lys in the second round.

Maya Joint Form

Joint has enjoyed a very prolific season, registering a 44-22 record at all levels and rising from outside the world's top 100 to a career-high ranking of No. 37.

Currently No. 46 in the world, Joint started the year with a semi-final in Hobart and quarter-final in Merida before picking up her first two WTA titles on the clay of Rabat and the grass of Eastbourne.

The 19-year-old had the misfortune of running into eventual runner-up Amanda Anisimova in the second round of the US Open, marking her fourth consecutive straight sets defeat to a top 20 opponent.

However, Joint has kicked off her Asian swing in bright fashion, defeating Linda Fruhvirtova and former World No. 4 Sofia Kenin in straight sets to reach the Seoul quarter-finals.
