Bencic will be hoping to regain her best tennis in Ningbo after some indifferent form since making the Wimbledon semi-finals. The Swiss has won just five matches in her last five tournaments, but she should be getting off to a winning start in Ningbo this week. Linette has been in horrendous form over the last few months, losing her opening match at nine of her last 12 tournaments - including coming into this clash on a five-match losing streak.

While Bencic isn't performing anywhere near her best, this is a good matchup for the Swiss and Linette is showing no signs of turning things around. Bencic won their only previous meeting in straight sets and a repeat here is expected.

The 31-year-old has put together various impressive moments in 2025, including winning the WTA 500 title in Abu Dhabi, reaching the Wimbledon semi-finals, the quarter-finals at Indian Wells and fourth round runs at the Australian Open and Madrid.

However, Bencic has struggled since making the final four at Wimbledon, winning just five matches since.

Bencic ended up making the R16 at both Beijing and Wuhan, but she had byes in both tournaments, while she also had three wins over players ranked outside the top 70.

Magda Linette Form

It's been a poor season for Linette, who heads into this clash with a negative 21-24 record.

However, Linette is still operating at a relatively high ranking of No. 56 after making the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 event in Miami earlier this season, along with a semi-final run in Nottingham.

But, the reality is that Linette is barely at top 100 level right now - she's lost her first match in nine of her last 12 tournament appearances, while she's lost her last five matches, winning just one set in that period.

Linette went down in straight sets last week in Wuhan to Antonia Ruzic and also lost her opening match in Ningbo last year in straights.
