Third seed Belinda Bencic, who has a successful history at the Charleston Open, faces off against Dayana Yastremska. Bencic has excelled on Charleston's green clay and holds a 4-1 head-to-head advantage over Yastremska. Despite Yastremska having potential with new coaches, Bencic's consistency and past performance suggest she will likely prevail in straight sets. Yastremska's unpredictable form and Bencic's favorable matchup record strengthen the prediction of a Bencic victory.

Belinda Bencic vs Dayana Yastremska Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Third seed Belinda Bencic launches her Charleston Open campaign on Tuesday night against the dangerous but erratic Dayana Yastremska.

Bencic has compiled a stellar season to date and has fond memories of Charleston, winning the title in 2023 and finishing runner-up in 2024. In fact, Bencic's history with this tournament dates all the way back to 2014, when she came from qualifying and made a run to the semi-finals. Bencic isn't at her best on red clay, but there's something about the green clay of Charleston that her game agrees with.

If this was red clay, I'd be tempted to take the $4.00 on offer for Yastremska to pull off the upset. The Ukrainian is extremely dangerous on her day and she might be inspired this week after being pictured working with new coaches Alexandra Stevenson and Pam Shriver. However, as mentioned, Bencic is much more suited to the green clay and she's won four of the five previous meetings between the pair.

There's a clear H2H advantage for Bencic and ultimately she's just the far superior and consistent player here. I'll take the Swiss in straights.
  • Bencic has won 20 of her 26 matches in Charleston
  • Bencic has won 26 of her last 28 completed matches vs players ranked No. 49 or lower
  • Bencic's last eight wins over players No. 49 or lower have been in straight sets
  • Three of Bencic's four defeats in 2026 have been vs top 10 players
  • Yastremska is 3-15 in her last 18 matches vs top 15 players
  • Ten of those 15 defeats were in straight sets
  • Seven of Yastremska's last eight defeats have been in straight sets

Bencic vs Yastremska Head To Head

Belinda Bencic Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 12-4
  • WTA Charleston Record: 20-6
  • Current Ranking: No. 12
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 4 (2020)

It's been a great season for Bencic and she will be hoping for another big result in Charleston before heading back to Europe for the clay swing, which is usually her least successful stage of the year.

Bencic was the form player on tour to begin the year as she conquered everyone in her path to lead Switzerland to United Cup glory - but she would have been extremely disappointed with a second round loss at the Australian Open to Nikola Bartunkova, which was one of just two defeats in her last 28 matches against players outside the top 50.

The 29-year-old made the R16 at both Dubai and Indian Wells, losing to top 10 players Elina Svitolina and Jessica Pegula before going on a run to the Miami quarter-finals, where it took another top 10 player in Coco Gauff to outlast her in three sets.

Dayana Yastremska Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 7-9
  • WTA Charleston Record: 2-3
  • Current Ranking: No. 49
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 21 (2020)

Yastremska remains one of the most unpredictable players on tour, capable of beating just about anyone on tour but also prone to poor defeats and weeks of inconsistency.

The Ukrainian hasn't really been able to generate any momentum so far in 2026 - in fact, she's won back-to-back matches just once, and that came in her first tournament of the year in Brisbane.

Not really much to write home about for Yastremska - she went out in the first round of the Australian Open and Dubai and the second round in Doha, Indian Wells and Miami.

Yastremska already has a match under her belt in Charleston, defeating Anastasia Zakharova 7-5 6-2 in the opening round.
