Sabalenka has been the undisputed best player in the world over the last few months and plays some of her best tennis in Australia, but Bouzkova will be confident of making an impact here after defeating the top seed in Washington last year.

Level at 1-1. Sabalenka demolished Bouzkova 6-1 6-2 in Miami 2023, but the Czech registered a stunning upset in Washington last season, prevailing 6-4 4-6 6-3 in the semi-finals.

Sabalenka is the overwhelming favourite to go all the way in Brisbane, with the World No. 1 one of just two seeds remaining at the quarter-final stage.

It's safe to say playing in Australia suits Sabalenka - she's won a staggering 24 of her last 25 matches in the country since the start of the 2023 season, highlighted by two Australian Open titles and reaching the Brisbane final last year, where she went down to an on-fire Elena Rybakina.

After a barnstorming end to 2024 that saw her win titles in Cincinnati, the US Open and Wuhan to finish the year at No. 1, Sabalenka has started 2025 in similar fashion.

The top seed is yet to drop a set in returning to the last eight in Brisbane, defeating Renata Zarazua 6-4 6-0 and Yulia Putintseva 6-4 7-6.

Marie Bouzkova Form

Bouzkova entered the 2025 season at No. 44 in the world after a solid year in 2024.

The Czech made two finals on the WTA Tour, but she couldn't convert them into titles, going down in Bogota to Camila Osorio and in Washington against Paula Badosa.

As mentioned, Bouzkova did take the scalp of Sabalenka in Washington, while she also made the semi-finals in Jiujiang to finish last season.

Bouzkova is also yet to drop a set in Brisbane this week, registering a big 7-6 6-4 win over Jelena Ostapenko in the opening round before taking out former World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka in the second round.

Bouzkova did get the better of Sabalenka in Washington last season, but I'll be shocked if lightning strikes twice here.

Sabalenka has won 24 of her last 25 matches in Australia and loves the conditions in Brisbane. Backing a relatively comfortable victory for the World No. 1.
