Switzerland and Colombia clash in a much-anticipated World Cup knockout tie at BC Place, Vancouver. Colombia, in electrifying form with five wins in six games and impressive attacking stats, are favored to edge past Switzerland, who have also shown resilience after a shaky start. Key players include Colombia’s Luis Diaz, James Rodriguez, and Gustavo Puerta, while Switzerland's rising star Johan Manzambi continues to impress. The prediction is for a tight, low-scoring game (under 2.5 goals), with Colombia expected to qualify for the next round. Live stream options available via bet365.

Switzerland vs Colombia World Cup Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

The stage is set for a cracking contest as in-form Switzerland and Colombia square off for a place in the World Cup quarter-finals at BC Place in Vancouver on Tuesday.

This could low-key be one of the best matches of the knockout phase. Colombia have emerged as genuine trophy threats on this side of the bracket and are playing some of the best football of any nation left in the World Cup, registering a whopping 79 shots across their four games. Los Cafeteros dealt with Ghana's low block in their 1-0 victory in the R32 and will be hoping to reach the World Cup quarter-finals for just the second time.

Meanwhile, Switzerland have built into this tournament nicely after an initial 1-1 draw with Qatar, winning their last three games - the first time they've done that at a World Cup. Johan Manzambi has been a breakout star, contributing to five goals - only one man under 21 years of age (Thomas Muller in 2010) has more. Manzambi assisted Breel Embolo in scoring the opening goal of Switzerland's 2-0 R32 victory over Algeria.

You can make a case for either side, but I picked Colombia as dark horses before the tournament and I really like what I'm seeing so far. If the match eventuates, I'd give Colombia a real chance of upsetting Argentina in the quarter-finals and from there, the final is a genuine possibility.

I think Colombia has a little more firepower, led by Luis Diaz and a resurgent James Rodrigues, while Gustavo Puerta has been a revelation in central midfield. Backing Los Cafeteros to qualify and have 15+ shots, with Puerta hitting the target.
  • Colombia have won five of their last six games
  • Colombia have kept a clean sheet in four of their last five games
  • Colombia have seen Under 2.5 goals in four of their last five games
  • Switzerland have seen Under 2.5 goals in four of their last seven games
  • Colombia have registered 15, 20, 24 & 20 shots in their four World Cup games this tournament
  • Gustavo Puerta has registered 11 shots in his last three games, hitting the target at least once in his last three appearances

Switzerland vs Colombia Head To Head

Colombia have won the last two meetings, including a 2-0 victory at the 1994 World Cup, which was also held in North America.

Switzerland Form Analysis

Switzerland's World Cup campaign got off to a dicey start as they were held to a 1-1 draw with a terrible Qatar side, despite having 32 shots.

Murat Yakin's bounced back strongly with a 4-1 dispatch of Bosnia before edging out Canada 2-1 to secure top spot in Group B and a more favourable passage in the knockout phase.

There was a first clean sheet of the World Cup for Switzerland in the R32 as they posted a workmanlike 2-0 victory over Algeria.

That was Switzerland's first knockout win at a World Cup since 1938.

Switzerland Team News

Manzambi was rewarded with a start for his terrific form and he was on hand to assist Embolo's opening goal, so the youngster is expected to keep his place here.

Manzambi should operate ahead of Granit Xhaka and Remo Freuler in midfield, allowing Dan Ndoye and Ruben Vargas to support Embolo up front.

Colombia Form Analysis

It's been a brilliant World Cup from Colombia so far and they look poised to reach just a second quarter-final after their first in 2014.

Colombia were too good for Uzbekistan and DR Congo in their opening two games before a 0-0 stalemate with Portugal, where they were by far the better team and were unlucky not to secure a late win after Davinson Sanchez's header was ruled out for offside.

Nestor Lorenzo's side kept their cool against a defensive Ghana side in the R32, with Jhon Arias' goal in the 14th minute proving the difference, while Luis Diaz also had a strike ruled out by VAR in the second half.

That was the third game in a row where Colombia have kept a clean sheet and also fired off 20+ shots, showcasing their quality at both end of the field.

Colombia Team News

Veteran striker Jhon Cordoba has been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament with a hamstring injury.

Sporting forward Luis Suarez came on for an assist in the win over Ghana and Colombia shouldn't lose much with his absence here.
