La Liga is the top level of professional football in Spain, boasting the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in a league that keeps fans on the edge of their seats each and every week.

Barcelona were the best side in the competition across the 2024/25 season as they secured the trophy ahead of arch-rivals Real and Atletico. So far, Barcelona have looked very good as they continue to build a lead over Real Madrid in second.

The current season has seen Barcelona move to the top of the ladder with 88 points coming from their opening 34 games.

Real Madrid are falling behind the leaders with 77 points after winning 24 matches, drawing five games and losing five times. Real currently sit second in the betting and on the ladder at this stage, but their title race looks run after dropping points in too many games.

Villarreal are currently well short of the top two in the betting after a battling season so far. The side sit 20 points behind Barcelona at the summit, with the third placed side in La Liga no longer able to catch the leaders with so few games left.

With the season edging towards its conclusion, Barcelona look unstoppable. Despite the pressure ramping up on them as the games tick by, they have only dropped points in five of their 34 matches having lost four times and drawn once.

With 89 goals scored and 31 conceded, Barca have the best attack and joint-best defence in the league. While Real and Atletico Madrid often provide strong challenges in the league, they have been no match for the best side in Spain this season.

By contrast, Real Madrid have been hugely disappointing. With the side 11 points short of Barcelona at the summit with 12 points left on offer, Barca can hand Real the ultimate humiliation and secure the trophy by winning El Clasico this weekend.

With Real eliminated from the Champions League at the quarter-final stage by Bayern Munich, it is likely that big changes will come ahead of the new season.
