Moonee Valley farewelled an era in style as Cox Plate Day 2025 delivered a fitting finale to one of Australian racing’s most iconic events. A capacity crowd embraced the emotion of the occasion, marking the last running of the Cox Plate before the track’s major redevelopment begins.
Via Sistina etched her name into history with a brave victory in the $6 million feature, going back-to-back in another thrilling finish over Buckaroo. The result added to the remarkable Cox Plate legacy of trainer Chris Waller and jockey James McDonald, who have dominated the race in recent years.
The supporting program showcased strong racing and emerging stars, with a charged atmosphere carrying through the card. From the mounting yard to the final salute, the day captured everything that makes The Valley unique.
