Wyong Tips January 18
PBL Law Group Midway Maiden Handicap Tips (Race 1)
Wyong Value Bet - Race 1 No. 9 Yukan Rose
After showing some potential in her first campaign, which included an eye-catching debut at Newcastle soft ground, Yukan Rose was disappointing via a short second prep.
Tipped out after a plain effort when well-backed here on November 25, Yukan Rose has been freshened right up ahead of Thursday's return and she finds a thin maiden here.
Dylan Gibbons sticks from the 808m Warwick Farm trial on January 2, where the filly worked well under her own steam for third and back to 1000m suits for now.

Wyong Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 1 Norton Road
These provincial only maidens often lack quality and this race looks no exception, where the sole first starter in the field is this gelding from the local Rodney Bailey stable.
Connections have taken their time with the four-year-old, who was in cruise control when taking out a 1030m Rosehill trial on December 29 and that was on a Soft 6.
Those in behind him via that heat were pushed out late to keep up and that includes Ausbred Mimosa, a race-fit filly who has shown ability (placed in a metro maiden first-up).

Wyong Favourite - Race 6 No. 1 Star Impact
Now fourth-up and back to provincial level, this mare shouldn't be far away and following a 1550m attempt at Canterbury last start, coming back to 1350m is a positive here.
After a nice return, Star Impact was a touch disappointing in a metro BM72 second-up, however, she put in a much improved performance when third-up on January 5.
That muddling affair was set up for those stalking the speed and given the five-year-old was outside the leader after over-racing early, she did okay to pick up again late.

Wyong Best Bet - Race 7 No. 5 Katsumoto
There was a lot more merit to the debut victory than the margin indicates, as he was pestered up front by a 30/1 chance, who was beaten almost 10 lengths in the finish.
Katsumoto bounced off that with another brave victory, with the four-year-old picking himself up late after being headed to record a half length win at Kembla on January 23.
As a lightly raced galloper, he's still doing a bit wrong as he learns the caper, although the extra trip should suit going off that latest outing and he finds another winnable race.
