Trained by Phillip Stokes the pick trialled well late last winner delivering a victory in a 950m barrier trial event at Traralgon in December.

However he failed to replicate that effort on the track finishing last of six on a good 4 track at Moonee Valley when debuting just over two weeks later.

The switch to wet tracks this time around has seen improved form however with the gelding saluting at the third attempt when winning by nearly three-and-a-half-lengths at Pakenham.

That Pakenham effort came over this 1200m trip on a soft 7 surface with the form of that contest working out well with the runner-up scoring since.

The selection has a good alley in four here and can put his experience to good use by getting the better of some less experienced rivals.

The pace situation is interesting here with Damien Oliver's mount one of two who are expected to go forwards to lead from the barriers.

A wide draw in 12 is far from ideal in that regard with the gelding having attempted to make all on both previous starts.

However it's of note that he has shown a liking for wet tracks in both starts to date including when half-a-length second over this trip at Pakenham May 25.

The third home in that contest has come out and broken his maiden since while the pick faded late on when a neck third over the same track and trip on debut two weeks earlier.

The softer going forecast here is unlikely to trouble the pick and he rates value to break his maiden at the third attempt.

Two Bays Farm (BM64) Tips (Race 8)

Mornington Roughie - Race 8 No. 9 Tanto

The three-year-old has won twice already this spell including at this Benchmark 64 level when taking on her own sex over 1000m at Sandown Hillside in March.

The pick has finished in the first four in each of her four subsequent starts however she has been kept to racing against fillies and mares for much of that time.

Trained by Matthew Ellerton she delivered a good third-place finish when racing at Benchmark 78 level over 1000m back at Sandown Hillside May 27.

The daughter of Churchill has run well on heavy tracks in the past and while keen on her most recent 1200m start she has placed on both previous starts at the distance.

Apprentice Laura Lafferty, on board for her two most recent starts is again in the saddle and the pair may prove up to getting the better of some of their better-fancied male rivals.
