Ipswich Tips October 8

Ipswich Party Hire QTIS Three-Year-Old and Four-Year-Old Benchmark 65 Handicap Tips (Race 1)

Ipswich Next Best Bet - Race 1 No. 1 Mishani Witness

Two wins in 2026 have highlighted a productive campaign for Mishani Witness, with the most recent coming over this track and trip on August 7 when he scored by a length and a half in 0-62 company.

Three solid efforts in defeat have followed, including consecutive runner-up finishes at the Gold Coast, with the latest coming over 1800m on September 26 when he was beaten narrowly in BM70 company on a Soft 5.

That most recent run came after he raced prominently and took over in the straight, while dropping back to BM65 level on Thursday represents a more suitable assignment.

Donna Stanbridge’s gelding has already shown he handles both Good and rain-affected going, with wins on Good, Soft and Heavy surfaces across his career.

Fiona Sandkuhl has partnered him at his past two starts and stays aboard, with the pair looking well placed to take advantage of a return to Ipswich and a proven track-and-trip setup.

Ipswich Roughie - Race 3 No. 1 It’s A Long Road

It’s A Long Road showed some ability through three starts in 2025, including a fifth at Toowoomba on his final appearance before spending almost a year away from race-day action.

The six-year-old took a significant step forward when resuming at the same venue on August 8, where he was ridden with restraint from barrier 10 and finished strongly to be beaten narrowly into second over 1200m.

That performance came on Good ground and the form has subsequently worked out well, with the winner, third and fifth from the race all going on to win.

His closing work also suggested the rise to 1350m should suit a lightly raced gelding who remains open to improvement despite his age.

This is a stronger maiden and barrier 12 presents another challenge, but Jaden Lloyd is a positive booking and It’s A Long Road may be capable of surprising at a bigger price.

Fertpro Class 4 Handicap Tips (Race 5)

Ipswich Best Bet - Race 5 No. 3 Impendor

Previous Ipswich form gives Impendor plenty of appeal, with the Matthew Dunn-trained gelding having scored over 1240m here in April last year before continuing to race competitively in stronger company.

He returned from an extended break at Randwick on September 19 and produced a fair effort when seventh over 1000m in a Highway Class 3, beaten less than three lengths on a Good 4 surface.

That first-up run should have provided a useful fitness benefit for the son of Impending, particularly given he had been lightly raced since his previous campaign.

While the form from that Randwick event could have worked out better, the drop from Saturday metropolitan company to a provincial Class 4 is a significant positive and the rise to 1200m looks much more suitable.

Jett Newman takes the ride from an inside draw and, with proven Ipswich form, additional fitness and a more suitable race shape, Impendor looks capable of returning to winning ways.

Ipswich Value Bet - Race 7 No. 6 Ludik

Ludik failed to make an impact when stepping into stronger 0-65 company at the Sunshine Coast last time, where he started at a big price and beat only one runner home.

He is better judged on his two previous Toowoomba performances, particularly the September 5 effort when he finished fourth over 1220m in BM62 company and was beaten only a length and a half.

That race has already received a useful form boost through third-placed Azuki, who won subsequently, while Ludik was ridden with restraint and stayed on soundly from back in the field.

Troy Pascoe’s representative is also a proven Ipswich performer, having won a similar 0-58 contest over this course and distance in April.

Returning to a Good 4 suits and the wide barrier should be manageable given his usual racing pattern, with the drop in grade giving Ludik each-way appeal at a more attractive price.
