The Taipans have hypnotized their opponents over the past three rounds and are in the best form of the season just when they have absolutely nothing to lose. All the pressure is off for the Taipans and they are playing like they are back in the school yard and disrupting things for all of the top contenders.

The Breakers are in a similar position, however their response is not quite the same, losing 7 of their past 8  as they struggle for motivation to close out the season in a positive manner.

With Taco Fall standing guard in the paint, expect Cairns to lean on Rob Edwards and the returning Taran Armstrong to dictate things from the perimeter, dropping threes and mid-rangers as the Taipans offence continues to rack up the points.

Rob Edwards has 23.42 points in his past 7 games and he will have a field day against the lose perimeter defence of the Breakers, scoring 20+ points in the match as Cairns go over a modest 88.5 point team total.

  • New Zealand have lost 7 of their past 8 home games this season.
  • Cairns have won 3 of their past 4 games and also 3 of their past 4 away matches.
  • Cairns averaged 97.6 points per game in their last 5 matches.
  • New Zealand ranks 8th in the NBL with a 36.1 opposition 3P%.

New Zealand Breakers Form & Team News

It is not looking pretty for New Zealand as the season comes to a vicious halt after showing so much promise early in the NBL25 season. The Breakers have won just 1 of their last 8 games and are now trying to avoid the wooden spoon with a win against the Taipans.

Suspensions and injuries have derailed the Breakers season and they will head into this bottom-of-the-table clash with Cairns with the uncertainty of Parker Jackson-Cartwright being fully-fit to play after missing the last match with a mid-section injury.

Since PJC’s suspension his impact has not been the same for the Breakers, averaging just 13 points per game as Matt Mooney has become the number one scoring option. Since the suspension to Jackson-Cartwright, Mooney has averaged 21.44 points per game and looks to be more in-charge of the offence, even in PJC presence.

Cairns Taipans Form & Team News

What is happening in Cairns? Three wins from their past four matches including victories over the top two contenders in the NBL in the Illawarra Hawks and Perth Wildcats.

The Taipans have nothing to lose and everything to play for with more than half of their lineup chasing new contracts for NBL26. Coach Adam Forde is also working hard to make sure his players stay put and want to remain in Cairns as they buld towards next season.

Rob Edwards is seeing more of the limelight, especially with Taran Armstrong out of the lineup last weekend, dropping 30 points against Perth and 22 against the Hawks. But where the Taipans have made the difference is in the paint with the presence of Tanner Groves and Sam Waardenburg.

Groves has averaged 19.25 points and 8 rebounds in his past 4 matches while Waardenburg was the difference in round 18 with 24 points and 9 rebounds against the Wildcats and 18 points and 6 rebounds against the Hawks.
