ASVEL is coming off a competitive performance in Athens, where they battled Panathinaikos before falling 91-85, as expected.

The difference in quality between the two sides was evident, but ASVEL showed great effort to stay close and even had a chance to force a dramatic finish.

With just over a minute left, Nando De Colo hit a three-pointer to bring his team within three points, but Kendrick Nunn took control for Panathinaikos and sealed the game.

De Colo was the standout performer, turning back the clock with a vintage display - finishing with 18 points and 7 assists for a 23 efficiency rating.

David Lighty (13 pts), Armel Traore (11 pts), Glynn Watson (10 pts), and Melvin Ajinca (10 pts) also reached double figures.

While ASVEL will struggle to collect wins this Euroleague season, this is one of the few games where they can realistically hope for success and even enter with a slight edge.

Virtus Bologna has been strong at home, where they have defeated both Real Madrid and Monaco in front of their fans, bringing their record to 2-2.

Coach Dusko Ivanovic’s team delivered another solid performance, especially defensively, holding Monaco to just 73 points.

They struggled to close the game late as their 13-point lead shrank to a single possession, but they managed to secure the win.

As expected, Carsen Edwards was the main man with 24 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists - a performance crucial for beating a team like Monaco.

No other player stood out offensively, but Virtus’s team defense was outstanding, particularly in limiting Monaco star Mike James to just one made field goal. Young Saliou Niang was especially impressive for his effort and discipline on defense.

ASVEL has been surprisingly efficient on offense so far, averaging 84 points per game across their first four matches. Strong mark for a team expected to finish near the bottom of the table.

To win on the road, Virtus will need another big game from Carsen Edwards, but also more offensive contributions from his supporting cast.
