Efes, bolstered by a recent victory over Olympiacos despite being the underdogs, are building chemistry with a fresh lineup. Key players like Cole Swider and Shane Larkin have been pivotal. Anadolu Efes Form & Team News

A new coach and many new players mean Anadolu Efes needs time to find the right chemistry, but their recent road win in Piraeus against Olympiacos was a major boost.

Efes entered that game as underdogs with just one win from the first three rounds but returned home with a crucial victory and renewed confidence.

The win was even more impressive given that Olympiacos started strong and quickly built a double-digit lead. However, Efes responded immediately, ending the first quarter in front and keeping the game close until the end.

The key moment came with six seconds left when Sasha Vezenkov missed a potential game-tying shot.
The standout player for Efes was forward Cole Swider, who delivered his best performance since joining the club - scoring 20 points in just 14 minutes.

Shane Larkin also played well, adding 18 points, hitting all four of his three-point attempts but struggling inside the arc (2/11). Credit also goes to Ercan Osmani, who did an excellent defensive job guarding Vezenkov while contributing 12 points.

Panathinaikos Form & Team News

Panathinaikos is still not playing at full strength this season and often relies on individual talent rather than cohesive team play. That was evident in their 91–85 home win over ASVEL, where they did just enough to secure their third victory.

Coach Ergin Ataman will be pleased with the performances of Kendrick Nunn and Richaun Holmes, especially the latter, who is slowly adapting to European basketball.

Nunn recorded 26 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists, while Holmes posted a dominant double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds, missing only one shot from the field.

Cedi Osman also contributed with 12 points and 5 rebounds, rounding out a strong offensive showing for the Greek side.

Head to Head

Last season’s playoff series between these teams was unforgettable. Efes led 2-1, but Panathinaikos fought back, reclaiming home-court advantage in Game 4 and sealing the series on their own court.

Verdict

Neither team has yet reached their ideal form. Efes is still developing chemistry after significant offseason changes, while Ataman is struggling to integrate T.J. Shorts effectively and fix defensive issues in his squad.

This will be Efes’ first true home test of the season, and with the support of their passionate fans, they have a good chance to edge past a familiar rival in what should be a close and intense matchup.
