The start of Crvena Zvezda’s season was disastrous. A long list of injured players and early losses to Olimpia Milano and Bayern caused major concern among fans.

Soon after, the club decided to change coaches. Giannis Sfairopoulos was replaced by club legend Sasa Obradovic, who returns for his second spell as head coach.

In an incredible atmosphere, Zvezda won 88-79, led by Jordan Nwora, who set a personal record with 24 points, along with 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 5 steals. This performance earned him the Euroleague Round 4 MVP award, which will surely boost his confidence ahead of this clash.

The victory was also a result of strong team effort - Chima Moneke and Donatas Motiejunas each scored 13 points, while Semi Ojeleye added 10, finally showing signs of improvement after a slow start to the season.

Real Madrid faces a special challenge this week, as they play both Serbian Euroleague teams.
On Thursday, they passed the first test by defeating Partizan 93–86 at home.

The final score does not fully reflect their dominance, as Real controlled most of the game and held a double-digit lead for the majority of the match.

They did allow Partizan to go on a 21–6 run in the final quarter, cutting the lead to just two possessions with two minutes left, but the Spanish champions quickly regained control to secure the win.

Edy Tavares delivered his best game of the season, finishing with 19 points and 8 rebounds.
Trey Lyles added 17 points, continuing to prove his value as a new signing, while coach Scariolo was also pleased with the contributions of Theo Maledon (16 points) and Chuma Okeke (14 points).

Crvena Zvezda has lost six straight games against Real Madrid. Their last victory came three and a half years ago on this same court, when they won 65-62.

Verdict

Most past meetings between these teams have been low-scoring, with Real Madrid relying on strong defense and patient offensive execution. One notable example came last season when Zvezda went nearly five minutes without scoring, allowing Real to take control with a 14–0 run.
