Head To Head
Adelaide United won 1-0 in the only previous meeting this season and have now taken the points in three of the last four meetings.
Melbourne City Form
Melbourne City saw a three-game winning run come to an end with a 2-2 draw at Western Sydney Wanderers last weekend.
Kai Trewin scored twice, including an 86th minute penalty, as City came from 2-0 down to snatch a point in Sydney.
The point means City now need have a three point cushion in second place as they look to secure an automatic semi-final spot.
Aurelio Vidmar's side are the form side have won three straight prior to last week's draw, beating Sydney FC (3-2), Central Coast Mariners (1-0) and Brisbane Roar (3-2).
Melbourne City Team News
City remain without a number of key players including Mathew Leckie, James Jeggo, Samuel Souprayen and Andrew Nabbout.
Adelaide United Form
Adelaide United remain in the finals picture, but missed a chance to move into the top six when drawing 1-1 with Brisbane Roar on Tuesday.
The Reds had given their finals hopes a much needed boost when ending a four-game losing run with victory over Wellington Phoenix last Friday.
Despite picking up four points from the last two games, Adelaide sit in seventh spot on the ladder. They are level with Sydney FC but have a signficantly worse goal difference.
Worse still for the Reds is that this will be their final game of the season with Sydney FC still have two games left to play.
Adelaide United Team News
Panashe Madanha and Bailey O'Neil are ruled out for what will be Carl Veart's last game in charge of the Reds.
Verdict
Adelaide must win if they are to stand a chance of making the finals. The bad news is Melbourne City have plenty to play for still as they bid to seal a top two finish, and I'm backing the hosts.
