Half Yours produced a brilliant staying performance to win the 2025 Melbourne Cup at Flemington, delivering a first victory in the great race for the father-and-son training partnership of Tony and Calvin McEvoy.

Ridden superbly by Jamie Melham, the five-year-old became the first Australian-bred galloper to win the Cup since Vow And Declare in 2019, and Melham made history as the first female jockey ever to complete the Caulfield Cup–Melbourne Cup double, following her earlier success aboard the same horse in the Caulfield Cup.
She also joined Michelle Payne as only the second woman to win the Melbourne Cup, a decade after Payne’s historic triumph aboard Prince Of Penzance in 2015.
The victory completed a famous Cups double for Half Yours, who became the 13th horse in history to achieve the rare feat, joining an elite list that includes Rising Fast, Might And Power, and Without A Fight.
The son of St Jean sat midfield before tracking into the race stylishly at the 600m, hitting the front at the clock tower and racing clear to score by 2.75 lengths from Goodie Two Shoes, with Middle Earth finishing third.
