f there were any lingering concerns about the Eagles’ playoff credentials, they were emphatically put to bed on Sunday with a 38-7 demolition of the New York Giants.

The NFC’s No. 1 seed was clinical from the outset and put the result beyond doubt with a 28-0 opening half. Jalen Hurts rushed for his 14th TD of the season among his game-high three and tied Cam Newton for the most by a quarterback in a single season. Most impressively, the Eagles rushed for 268 yards, the second-most in postseason history. Defensively, Philly kept both Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley scoreless.

Overall, they couldn’t have been any more impressive, and they’ve now shortened to $1.66 in this game and Super Bowl favouritism.

As for the 49ers, they earned a second straight trip to the Conference Championships with a 19-12 victory over the Dallas Cowboys. While rookie QB Brock Purdy failed to throw a TD, it mattered little as the 49er’s defense kept the Cowboys’ to just one touchdown. Despite his quieter game, Purdy’s fantastic debut season continues as he is now 7-0 as a starter and the fifth rookie QB to start a conference championship.

It’s long been acknowledged that defense wins championships, and the 49ers will pray this holds true as they search for a 13th consecutive win.
