The Bills, despite offensive struggles last week, are tipped to win, mainly due to Josh Allen's rushing potential and Pittsburgh's defensive injuries. Allen has consistently performed well against top blitzing teams, making him a key player to watch. Each side has dropped 2 of their last 3, are battling offensive inconsistencies and are hungry for that stabilising win. But with Buffalo having a clear advantage at the QB position and Pittsburgh limping through with injuries, it should be a W to the Bills.

It was an unusual situation for Josh Allen last week vs Houston. He was suffocated by the Texans defence, throwing two interceptions and getting sacked a career high 8 times. But the Texans are one of the best defensive units in the NFL and Allen is historically quick to rebound. Now he comes up against an aggressive Steelers man-coverage scheme, which has repeatedly opened lanes for scrambling quarterbacks.

Allen has cleared 30 rushing yards in six of eight games against top-10 blitz teams and ran for 74 yards the last time he faced Pittsburgh. With both of Buffalo’s starting tackles banged up, expect Allen to take matters into his own legs.

Pittsburgh are going to need to try and run it down Buffalo’s throat. With Aaron Rodgers still uncertain and Mason Rudolph unable to stretch the field, the Steelers have turned into a run-first unit. Jaylen Warren has been their most dangerous weapon, coming off a 68-yard performance and facing a Bills defence that has been found out in explosive running plays all season. Buffalo have allowed 100+ RB1 yards in multiple games, and their missed-tackle numbers continue to balloon. If Pittsburgh are to hang around, it’ll be through Warren.

The X-factor here is Kenneth Gainwell, who has quietly become the Steelers’ most creative red-zone piece. Buffalo’s defence has allowed touchdowns to running backs in four straight matches, and Gainwell’s combination of lateral motion, option usage, and soft-edge receiving makes him a tricky matchup for a Bills front that has struggled with discipline. With Pittsburgh likely to lean on misdirection inside the 20, Gainwell Anytime TD becomes an ideal companion pick.

Take Buffalo to win and cover the line, Allen to dominate on the ground, Warren to continue his hot rushing form, and Gainwell to punch in a red-zone touchdown.

  • Bills have beaten Pittsburgh in 4 of the last 5 matchups.
  • Josh Allen has exceeded 30 rushing yards in 6 of 8 games vs top-10 blitz teams.
  • The Steelers defence has allowed 24+ points in four of their last six games.
  • Kenneth Gainwell has scored in back-to-back games and faces a bottom-five Bills run defence.

Buffalo Bills Form

Buffalo fell 23-19 to Houston last weekend in a messy offensive performance that saw Josh Allen sacked eight times, throw two interceptions and finish below a 70 passer rating. Despite the struggles, the Bills sit 7-4 and remain firmly in the Wild Card mix. James Cook continued his breakout season with 116 rushing yards and a 45-yard touchdown, while Khalil Shakir posted a season-high 110 receiving yards.

Defensively, Buffalo continue to leak big plays. They’ve allowed 30+ points twice in the last three games and failed to sack the quarterback a single time in Houston. With both tackling efficiency and red-zone defence slipping, the Bills must lean on Allen to outscore opponents in high-stress environments.

Pittsburgh Steelers Form

Pittsburgh are 6-5 but trending downward after a 31-28 loss to Chicago. Their defence gave up three touchdown passes and couldn’t generate any consistent pressure without Alex Highsmith. Mason Rudolph filled in for Aaron Rodgers and played safe, conservative football but the passing attack never threatened the Bears vertically.

The bright spot is the run game, which erupted for 186 yards last week, including 68 from Jaylen Warren and 92 combined from the committee. With Rodgers still uncertain and multiple offensive starters limited in practice, Pittsburgh may once again have to rely on a ground-heavy approach.
