Ballarat Tips October 14

Best Bet:

Race 8 No. 1 Welcometotheshow

The son of Showtime placed second in maiden company in his first two starts this prep, including when beaten just over a length at Seymour in July.

He backed that effort up by breaking through for his first victory on a Heavy 9 track at Swan Hill at the end of that month.

The colt subsequently crossed the border for a metro Benchmark 62 on the Parks track at Morphettville, where he jumped from a wide alley and completed a double with a determined win by just over half a length.

He finished strongly from off the pace after being ridden cold that day, although it’s notable that he was ridden closer to the speed at Swan Hill previously.

The four-year-old arrives here on the back of a 900m jumpout success at this venue and should prove very hard to beat in pursuit of a hat-trick.

Market Mover:

Race 3 No. 12 Tivaci Code

Jaguar Paw remains solid as the odds-on favourite, however the early support with Neds has come for Tivaci Code, who is now on the second line of betting at $4.40 after opening at $6.

The three-year-old was safely held on debut at Kyneton, where he did a bit wrong in running, but that form has since been franked by the winner at Geelong.

The early market confidence suggests he can improve at start two, and Tivaci Code also draws kinder for this assignment.

Stats Say:

The Ben, Will & JD Hayes training team boast a 22% strike-rate (28/127) at this circuit and are well represented again with runners in races one, two, five and six.

Their first runner is Nic The Cash, who looks to hold strong claims in the opener, while they are double-handed in the second.

Chewing Gum has placed in both starts this prep, including a metro Benchmark 66 at Sandown last time, and looks ready to break through for her first win in over a year.

The stable’s final runner, Macedon Rose, contested the sixth and showed up well when finishing fourth at Sandown last start.
