In the much-anticipated NBL25 Round 13, the Tasmania JackJumpers are favorites against the Perth Wildcats. Despite recent home struggles, the JackJumpers are showing improved form, particularly on defense. Scott Roth's team is expected to leverage their defensive momentum, with Josh Bannan and Will Magnay playing pivotal roles. Magnay is projected to secure 7+ rebounds, while Bannan is likely to cross 15 points, as the JackJumpers aim to cover the 1.5-point spread as home favorites. Perth's recent form dip provides a strategic advantage for the JackJumpers to clinch victory at home.

Tasmania JackJumpers vs Perth Wildcats NBL25 Round 13 Expert Tips

The JackJumpers are favourites at home which scares me considering they have lost 5 of the last six on the island. But, with Perth’s form dip and the JJ’s returning to their defensive selves I’m backing the home team to cover the 1.5 points as the favourite.

Scott Roth has the JackJumpers playing his style of basketball again, pressuring their opponents and slowing their scoring then capitalizing when they get the opportunity. The Josh Bannan - Will Magnay connection is blossoming with the former playing the best basketball of his career and the latter becoming the enforcer down low.

Perth have been off their game over the last couple of weeks, presenting the perfect opportunity for the JackJumpers to level up the series 2-2 against the Wildcats. Magnay will be in a tough battle with Jo Lual-Acuil so I like the 7+ rebound market, which he has hit in his last 5 matches.

On the offensive side of things I am leaning into Josh Bannan, who will be on full attack again against Perth after scoring an equal career-best 29 points against the Wildcats last time out.

  • Tasmania have won 3 of their last 4 matches.
  • Tasmania have held their opponents to an average of 82.1 points per game in their last 4 matches.
  • Will Magnay is averaging 8.8 rebounds in his last 5 matches.
  • Josh Bannan has 15+ points in his last two games against Perth

Tasmania JackJumpers Form & Team News

The JackJumpers have turned things around, blocking out all the noise for more offence and once again taking over as the best defensive team in the competition, giving up an average of just 82.1 points to their opponents in their last 4 matches, going 3-1 during that span.

Their latest match against Cairns was their best defensive showing of the season, containing the Taipans to just 68 points in an 81-68 victory, forcing the northerners to just 41.4% accuracy from the field throughout the match.

Cairns may not be the benchmark but the Tasmania victories over Sydney 104-81 and offensive powerhouses South East Melbourne 89-81 have been more impressive. Will Magnay has proven to be the difference defensively with the Boomer taking his new role as the rock down low averaging 8. 5 rebounds, 2.25 blocks and 11.75 points over his last 4 games.

Perth Wildcats Form & Team News

The Wildcats home struggles continued as they dropped their third match in 4 games, giving up a 16-point lead at the start of the third quarter to go down to the South East Melbourne Phoenix 77-76 at the hands of a John Brown buzzer beater.

The Wildcats appear to be derailed since Bryce Cotton showed up for the first time in Perth handing them their first loss of this run and there is no one on the roster that has felt that more than Kristian Doolittle.

The Perth import was the rock for the Wildcats in the opening half of the season, however, since the loss to Adelaide 95-94, Doolittle’s numbers have faded, scoring no more than 8 points in the three matches that have followed, after hitting double digits in 10 of 11 games prior. Doolittle also has not been as effective on the boards, collecting no more than 6 rebounds per game, well below his 7.9 average for the season.
