The Sydney Kings have showcased tremendous dominance over the Perth Wildcats in this NBL season, with conclusive victories in their last three encounters. Kendric Davis has been exceptional, consistently scoring over 25 points and hitting a high percentage of three-pointers. The Wildcats will struggle to counter Davis's prowess without substantial changes to their game strategy. Additionally, Sydney's defense has successfully neutralized Kristian Doolittle, underscoring the team's all-around strength. With the Kings entering the playoffs as favorites, they are expected to maintain their superiority in the semi-final face-off.

Sydney Kings vs Perth Wildcats NBL26 Semi-Final Expert Tips

When Perth get it right they can beat anyone, but they don’t against Sydney and the Kings will own them again in the first match of this best-of-three series.

To be honest, initially the 7.5-points tempted me and I almost lent towards the Wildcats, but as they say ‘The stats don’t lie’ and you cannot look past the absolute dominance of the Kings over the Wildcats this season.

Victories of 18, 29 and 22 points are margins too large to ignore and Kendric Davis dropping 25 points or more in all three shows that John Rillie doesn’t have an answer for who many say is the ‘Real’ MVP of the league. In the last two meeting Davis has completely owned the Wildcats from the perimeter, dropping 13 threes at 59%, being purely unmarkable.

Until there is evidence that Perth can stop Memphis University talent, I’m going back to the well and taking his over 26.5 points and 3+ threes.

Brian Goorjian has been able to crack the Wildcats code by shutting down their biggest weapon in Kristian Doolittle, who has averaged just 12.66 points in three games against Sydney this season. Doolittle has been the force for Perth, especially of late but the Kings will shut him down and cover the hefty line as the favourite.

  • Sydney won all three matches against Perth in NBL26 by an average margin of 23 points and no less than 18.
  • Kendric Davis averages 30.6 points against Perth in his NBL career, the most of any opponent.
  • Kendric Davis has gone 13 of 22 from three-point range in his last 2 games against Perth.
  • Kristian Doolittle has scored under 19.5 points in his last 5 games against Sydney.

Sydney Kings Form & Team News

Winning the final 11 games of the season and taking out the NBL Minor Premiership makes the Kings the team to beat in the NBL Finals and bearing the weight of having it their championship to lose.

The Kings’ defence finished the season allowing their opponents to score just 87.2 points per game, good enough for the second least of any team in the NBL, but it was their offence that took them from being a contender to being the benchmark of the competition.

Led by MVP candidate Kendric Davis’ 24.4 points per game average, the Kings scored 99.3 points per game in NBL26. However, raise that to 107.9 points per game on their 11-0 run to close out the year, scoring 100+ in 9 of those matches.

Secondary scorers can be what most see as the inconsistent side to the Kings, however, it has more to do with who needs to score on the night against a specific opponent. Xavier Cooks lifts when size matters otherwise Kouat Noi or Jaylin Galloway get their opportunities if versatility is needed.

Perth Wildcats Form & Team News

Perth went the long way to the semi-finals but got there in the end after a much stronger performance in their Elimination Final against Melbourne United than they put up against little brother South East Melbourne in the Seeding Final.

Kristian Doolittle continues to lead the Wildcats from the front with another 24 points and 7 rebounds against United, but the difference was the level of Jo Lual-Acuil in the paint for Perth with the South Sudanese-Australian going large with 28 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks.

With Melbourne shooting poorly, the Wildcats gave up limited second chances winning the rebound battle 52-39 with both Dylan Windler (9 rebounds and Ben Henshall (6 rebounds) also playing their roles.

The concern for Perth will be three-point shooting heading into the semi-final, ranked 8th with a 32.1 3P% which can hurt them. Elijah Pepper was hot in the final games of the season and for the Boomers but has failed to find range in the NBL Finals and will need to get back into rhythm in this series.
