The South East Melbourne Phoenix is poised to claim a routine victory against the Tasmania JackJumpers in Round 12 of the NBL25. A strong advantage at the Gippsland Regional Indoor Stadium should bolster the Phoenix's performance. Key players Nathan Sobey and Bryce Hamilton are expected to score 20+ points each, while John Brown is anticipated to secure 5+ rebounds. Despite the JackJumpers' potential, led by Bryce Hamilton, the Phoenix's favorable positioning is a decisive factor in this matchup.

South East Melbourne Phoenix vs Tasmania JackJumpers NBL25 Round 12 Expert Tips

It should be a routine victory for the Phoenix in Gippsland as they open up their Ignite Cup account in electric fashion against a struggling JackJumpers outfit.

Look, it has been a tough run of late in the NBL with results falling each and every way, so it is time to play it safe and pick on individual form and play on the safer side of the lines.

South East Melbourne have a heavy advantage training at Gippsland Regional Indoor Stadium at a very unique venue that is compact with the fans sitting right on top of the players. I expect the Phoenix to cover the 6.5, but I am going to bring it down to 3.5.

Sobey is an MVP contender and is leading the Phoenix on a genuine championship run. The bookies want closer to 25 points for Sobes’ so lets take 20 points which he is hitting much more often. Same With John Brown rebounds at 5+.

For the Jackies, it is all about the production of Bryce Hamilton that will keep them in this game. The Phoenix rank in the bottom two in field goal and three-point percentage, so I also expect the Tassie import to drop 20+.

  • The Phoenix won their only game at Gippsland Regional Sports Stadium in NBL25 (vs. Brisbane 105-86).
  • Bryce Hamilton has had 20+ points in 5 of his last 8 games.
  • Nathan Sobey has had 20+ points in 7 of his last 10 games.
  • John Brown has had 5+ rebounds in 7 of his last 8 games.

South East Melbourne Phoenix Form & Team News

Mixed results for the Phoenix in Round 11, going down cheaply to the Hawks 113-109 but bouncing back emphatically in the Throwdown to crush former league leaders United 11-86.

Two contrasting first quarter performances dictated the results for South East Melbourne. Against Illawarra they fell behind by 18 points and went into panic mode, taking 58 threes in the match, hitting at just 27.6%, well below their league leading 37.1 3P%. Against Melbourne the Phoenix led by 10 at the first break and 15 at the half finishing the match with 16 three pointers from 31 attempts and a 53.0FG%.

The biggest positive for the Phoenix in Round 11 was the response, a poor performance that was rectified just three days later.

Tasmania JackJumpers Form & Team News

I don’t know how to take the JackJumpers this season, They a 3-0 against Sydney but haven’t had much to talk about besides that since the middle of October. I was under the impression that things were about to change with the return fo David Johnson, but another tough trip to New Zealand and Spark arena proved me wrong.

Despite having plenty of rest and the Breakers playing just two days prior, the JackJumpers were slow out of the box facing a 14-point deficit that they never got back in the match, falling 99-86 to New Zealand.

The concern is pace, the Breakers went at them through the middle of the court, driving quick and hard to the basket in the first half and Scott Roth and the Jackies were too slow to respond. Defensively they had no answer and then couldn’t hit a basket and the game was lost in the first 10 minutes.
