The Tasmania JackJumpers are predicted to defeat the New Zealand Breakers in their NBL25 Round 5 encounter. Despite being on their third consecutive home game, the Breakers struggle with consistency in scoring and turnovers, positioning them at a disadvantage. The JackJumpers, on the other hand, bring strong defensive ranks and have exceeded preseason expectations, winning 100% of games they led at halftime. With key players like Josh Bannan and Sam Mennenga likely to shine, Tasmania is expected not only to win but also cover the point spread.

New Zealand will play their 3rd straight home game and 5th in 7 games when they host the JackJumpers who come in fresh following a dominant win over the Sydney Kings. The Breakers are struggling for consistency at both ends of the court ranking 9th in opposition scoring and 6th in their own scoring.

They had 24 fewer shots in their loss to the Phoenix compared to their win just a few days earlier against Illawarra pointing to the lack of consistency. They are still top 5 in rebounding but Turnovers are killing them ranking 9th at both ends of the court.

Tasmania have been extremely strong this season and given the turnover of players they had in the off-season, they are definitely exceeding expectations. Their grinding playing style, slowing down the pace, has had its desired effect on their opposition. Tassie have the 4th ranked scoring defence, 5th best opposition FG% and teams are attempting the 2nd fewest 3pt shots against them.

With the inconsistencies at play for New Zealand, it is hard to see them getting past the methodic JackJumpers outfit. Take Tassie to win and cover, half/full time double, Josh Bannan and Sam Mennenga are both likely to exceed their points totals.

  • The Favourite has won 3 straight this matchup and 4 of the last 5.
  • Tasmania have won 100% of games they have led at halftime this season. New Zealand have lost 50% of games where they have led at half time.
  • Josh Bannan has averaged 16.5 pts per game over his last 4
  • Sam Mennenga has scored 29 and 20 pts in his last 2 games and is averaging 17 pts per game in NBL26.
