Strathalbyn Tips September 20
One For The Ladies Maiden Plate Tips (Race 2)
Strathalbyn Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 1 Dare To Be Free
The five-year-old showed ability when delivering a sixth-place finish over 1400m in a Balaklava maiden when making her debut in March.
Spelled following that effort, Dare To Be Free has placed on each of her four starts this time around, including when finishing runner-up three times at Murray Bridge.
The latest of those Murray Bridge efforts saw her lose out by a narrow margin and while that race hasn’t produced any winners, ninth and eleventh have both performed well in defeat since.
The slightly quicker going forecast here is no issue, having placed twice on a Good 4in the past, while barrier seven shouldn’t pose any problems.
Regular pilot Brittany Wong is again in the saddle and dropping slightly in distance, she looks capable of steering the mare to her first victory.

The Grenache Gallop Benchmark 58 Handicap Tips (Race 5)
Strathalbyn Roughie - Race 5 No. 12 Warrandyte Road
The gelding is a regular at this venue and while he's versatile with regards to tactics, it’s of note that he’s been racing over shorter distances than he tackles here in recent times.
The five-year-old’s most recent effort saw him finish a well-beaten eighth in a 1550m Benchmark 58 on a Soft 6 at Bordertown last month.
Freshened following that effort, it’s notable that his most recent victory came in a course and distance contest on a Good 4 in January.
Similar underfoot conditions are forecast here, with Warrandyte Road is set to race on a sound surface for the first time since finishing down the field at Gawler in April.
While he's settled prominently in the past, he has also shown good form when racing from off the pace and as such a wide alley shouldn’t pose any issues off a low weight.
18+ only. T&Cs apply.
Chris McDonald Memorial Benchmark 58 Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Strathalbyn Value Bet - Race 6 No. 1 Munster
The New Zealand-bred gelding showed solid form in the North when winning by five lengths over 1300m in Darwin at the start of last month.
The seven-year-old put a below-par 1300m effort there behind him when runner-up at Pioneer Park in a 1400m Benchmark 66 contest later that month.
It's also worth forgiving the topweight's below-par last of eight over this trip at Balaklava on his first start since returning to South Australia.
The drop in grade is a positive here, while Harrison Ingram, who was on board at Balaklava retains the ride, with Munster having a soft map here.
Trainer Michael Hickmott’s string has been in great form in the last month, with the handler boasting a 38% strike rate (6/16) in that time.
18+ only. T&Cs apply.
The Cabernet Pursuit Benchmark 56 Handicap Tips (Race 7)
Strathalbyn Best Bet - Race 7 No. 1 McCain
Harrison Ingram and Michael Hickmott team up again in the finale, with their representative a six-year-old gelding who has won two of his last three starts.
The most recent of those victories saw McCain salute by nearly a length in a 1300m Benchmark 58 on a Good 3 at Balaklava on September 13.
The gelding had been freshened before that effort, having finished sixth when racing in a metro contest over 1200m at Morphettville prior.
The top weight has the forecast underfoot conditions to suit here, while the drop to a Benchmark 56 contest is also in his favour.
A wide barrier is a knock, however, he's often ridden from mid-division or off the pace and with the extra 50m here no issue, he can salute again.
18+ only. T&Cs apply.
