Ascot Best Bet - Race 3 No. 7 Missile Storm

Stephen Miller’s gelding lost out by a narrow margin when resuming in a 1400m contest at this track in January.

The son of Smart Missile raced from mid-division on a good 4 track that day and he has since gone on to win both subsequent starts.

The first of those saw the gelding triumph by nearly a length when contesting a 1680m Class 3 handicap at Bunbury.

The selection started a short-priced favourite that day and he went on to complete a double under a change of tactics when dropped back to 1400m at Pinjarra two weeks ago.

The five-year-old raced from off the pace having jumped from a wide barrier at Pinjarra and having finished strongly that day he should appreciate the step back up in distance.

Regular rider Brad Parnham is again set to ride and jumping from next to the rail his mount looks up to completing a hat-trick.

Ascot Next Best Bet - Race 6 No. 2 Bold Hero

The son of Rommel is the winner of three of his six starts to date including his first two outings this prep.

The pick resumed with a two-length triumph when contesting a 1500m handicap event here in January.

Racing on a good 4 track that day the gelding tracked the speed before going on to deliver a comfortable victory.

A change of tactics having been allocated a wide barrier saw the four-year-old ridden cold stepped up to 1800m for a Benchmark 66+ handicap here when racing second up.

The selection went on to salute by a length that day in the style of a gelding who would appreciate the extra distance he tackles here.

While Simon Miller’s gelding failed to shine over 2000m at Pinjarra last time it’s worth forgiving that effort given the pick was fractious in the barriers that day and he can return to winning ways here.

City Of Belmont – Marjorie Charleson Classic Tips (Race 7)

Ascot Feature Bet - Race 7 No. 1 Twain’s Angel

The four-year-old went unbeaten in four starts last prep including when winning twice over this course and distance.

While the filly has just won just once this time around she has finished in the first three in each of her last five outings.

Three of those efforts have come in Listed company including when coming home one-and-a-half-lengths clear of her rivals in the track and trip Scenic Blast Stakes in January.

Racing on a good 4 surface that day Madi Derrick’s mount raced in fourth for much of the contest prior to asserting in the final 100m.

The pick went on to finish three lengths second to Scenic Blast fourth Snowdome in a six-runner renewal of the Listed Cyril Flower Stakes back here subsequently.

The filly met with trouble at the start and while unable to complete a double that day switched to a set weights contest she is expected to return to winning ways jumping form barrier three.

Belhus Racing Stables 30th Birthday Handicap Tips (Race 9)

Ascot Value Bet - Race 9 No. 6 Gage Roads

While the gelding has won just twice from 26 starts he generally runs his race having placed in five of his last six outings.

The exception came when beaten just over a length into sixth when contesting a 1200m Benchmark 66+ handicap at this venue on his penultimate start.

The selection was racing first up on that occasion and having been inconvenienced on straightening he kept on nicely in the straight under his jockey here Shaun McGruddy.

Two winners have emerged from that contest including the runner-up Canny Rock who was a winner at this venue on Wednesday.

The five-year-old took a step forward when stepped up to 1400m at Pinjarra two weeks ago when a change of tactics saw the gelding ridden closer to the pace prior to finishing runner-up.

The pick jumped from a double figure barrier that day and while he faded in the closing stages he looks value to record a win.
