In the EuroLeague's Round 21, Valencia hosts Monaco in a highly anticipated match. Both teams have shown exceptional form, with Valencia leading the standings alongside Hapoel Tel Aviv and boasting an impressive home record. Coach Pedro Martinez's team relies on a rigorous defensive strategy and standout performances from players like Jean Montero to maintain their edge. Monaco, having recovered from a brief slump, comes off four straight wins, showcasing their offensive prowess against top teams like Real Madrid and Barcelona. Valencia Form & Team News

It is now clear that Valencia are serious playoff contenders, if not a team capable of achieving even more. At the halfway point of the EuroLeague season, head coach Pedro Martinez team shares the top spot in the standings with Hapoel Tel Aviv, holding a record of 14 wins and 6 losses.

Roig Arena has proven to be an impenetrable fortress, and Valencia have also recorded several major road victories. Among others, both Greek giants were beaten, and earlier this week Crvena Zvezda were swept aside at home by a convincing 106:89 margin.

Valencia played an almost perfect game, and the Belgrade team has not suffered such a heavy home defeat in a long time.

Crvena Zvezda had no answer to Valencias aggressive approach and ultra fast pace, which ruthlessly punished every defensive mistake. As usual, Pedro Martinez rotated and utilized all 12 players perfectly, ensuring that the intensity of his teams play never dropped over the full 40 minutes.

Dominican guard Jean Montero delivered the best performance of his still short EuroLeague career, scoring 25 points and causing major problems in the paint while drawing constant fouls from the opposing defenders.

Brancou Badio and Omari Moore were also excellent with 15 points each, while Kam Taylor and Braxton Key both finished in double figures with 13 points apiece.

Monaco Form & Team News

Monaco have overcome the crisis that followed defeats to Fenerbahce and Baskonia, and with four consecutive wins have climbed to fourth place in the standings.

After victories over Bayern, Real Madrid and Barcelona, Partizan were the latest team to fall at Salle Gaston Medecin, losing convincingly 101:84.

It was another outstanding offensive display by Monaco, who have scored 100 or more points in five of their last six home games. When playing at that level, very few EuroLeague teams can match them, and Partizan were far from that standard on this occasion.

After the first 20 minutes, the direction of the game was already clear. Monaco held a commanding 15 point lead at halftime and comfortably controlled the contest until the final buzzer.

They shot an excellent 60 percent from three point range, recorded 11 more rebounds and 7 more assists than their opponents, and even 15 turnovers did not significantly affect the final outcome.

Jaron Blossomgame, Mike James, Daniel Theis, Matthew Strazel, Nikola Mirotic and Alpha Diallo all finished in double figures, each scoring between 10 and 14 points.

Head to Head

The first meeting between these teams this season featured a hard fought battle and a 90:84 victory for Monaco. Alpha Diallo was the leading scorer for the winners with 16 points.

Verdict

If any team can challenge Valencia on their home floor at this moment, it is Monaco.

They are one of the few teams capable of matching Valencias fast pace, with multiple players who can create both for themselves and for others, and who are comfortable playing at a high tempo.

I expect an exciting and high scoring game, with the outcome likely to be decided by individual performances in clutch moments.
